Iphone 5s battery drains fast after ios 7.1 update.

It did not work for me either. The one thing Apple is doing very well is to den the issue and let their costumers struggle to to come up with ideas and fixes for them. Turning everything off has defeated the IPHONE 5S for all it can do or was advertised to do for us. They certainly got us on that one, a very expensive paper weight that is all the phone is worth now. I am going to buy a disposable phone just to make sure I will have a device that will at least hold a charge for an emergency. You never know how fast the battery drains on any given day, I can not trust it any more even to make a 10 hours with very light use before it needs a charge.

I have tried all of the suggestions, Battery still drains extremely fast. Light use, no multi tasking, close out of every app after I use just one and use the top button to put in sleep mode. Their is a software issue that is not shutting down the phones properly and I can not figure out what is running in the background.

The same thing is happening to my IPAD Air.

I have even emailed Tim Cook directly concerning these issues, I never got a response. In his BIO it says to email him directly and he will usually resound in three days, it's been 30 days atleast now.

I am starting to loose faith in Apple products.

After trying all possible tweaks and deleting all apps my iPhone 5s continued to drain 5 to 6% and hour in aiplane mode and without any use at all. Just overnight 50 % of the battery gone. My phone, still in guarantee was replaced for a new one with IOS 7.0.3 on it and it looses 1 to 3 % overnight with 3 e-mail accounts and location services on. I can now charge every two days and i consider it a solid battery performance. I will of course not update until I know the problem is gone. At the Apple store they never recognized the issue and were not even interested to look at my phone despite proceeding with the replacement. I have no clue why Apple is upsetting so many customers instead of fixing the issue.

I came a cross a roumor that 7.1.2 is might be released anytime. I hope the battery drain is adressed with it.

Setting fixing someone's hyper drain. I checked clock setting on ip4.

It was spinning its wheels trying to set clock automatically but could not

Because location services was disabled. I switched to manual.

This Fixed ip4 7.1.1 hyper battery drain feature.

Maybe ip5??? After Disabling networks all them dang resets.

Maybe yours is spinning its wheels on clock setting too...

I tried almost the exact same things you did...almost eerie to read your post. My iphone 5 is out of warranty about 6 months as well and the battery started to get pretty bad, replaced the battery with a new one and it is no better. Makes no sense, but it drains extremely quickly and I have no clue how to stop it. Brand new battery so it is either hardware or software. I should also add it charges slowly and gets hot sometimes.

Well I bought a new Iphone 5s two days back. And my problem is even though I have "off" every possible battery draining setting still my iphone drains a percent battery ever two-three mintues. And the retailer over here wont change or replace my iphone.

So I've been following this post for quite some time and have tried every possible solution that has been given, aside from replacing my phone, which sounded like is more of a pain then trying to "fudge" with the settings. I even bought a Mophie to give myself life beyond a 4 hour marker of the entire battery dying each day. I don't have access to charge my phone (5s, 32gB, slate) thru car or wall charger. Seemed to give me an extended life. Thinking iOS 7.1.1 update would potentially resolve the issue like previous ios updates (not so, simply a security update).

Not only have I learned a TON about my phone and the operating system. I couldn't find a way that fixes the hyper drain. Then, I did the Network Reset a couple times and I've almost doubled the life of the phone. This is not a complete resolution, but certainly has alleviated my constant obsession of battery level. Two big "savers" that keeps me away from watching the battery level is getting rid of the battery percentage and refraining closing apps down.

It took a couple tries of the Network Reset to get to this point and I'm content for now. This IS a software design issue AND i do believe Apple will eventually get the kinks worked out. Frustrating, it is! But to be able to pinpoint the constant refreshing apps and operating system defaults that were sticky is a start.

Give some of these solutions a chance. They will not only take you from a novice phone user to a more skilled user, but help you find some pretty amazing features of your phone!

Have faith, people. It's RARE that Apple let's it's users down!

What a lot of posters dont realize is this is a serious issue. I do appreciate some of the tips but the constant links to folks that say to turn down your brightness, close this, close that is not the solution. I have had the same things running i always did with no issues at all. not with all those closed, basically no anything it drains from 100% to 50% in two hours with doing nothing but a few emails and few minutes on Safari, checking a score or something...not streaming video, or anything out of the ordinary. It is either a hardware issue, where it says 100% when in fact it is not, or a software issue. I am amazed at how many people have the same **** problem.

It's really bad for me. I am away most of the summer near a beach that has not so good cell reception. I need to keep in touch with an elder relative. I've resorted to buying a Mophie case so the phone will last me a day.

I've also decided to write to the big shot himself since I work for a major cell phone carrier who sells his products and hears similiar stories to everyone here. I highly doubt I will get a response. Hopefully a resolution will be coming soon but I'm sure glad I sold my Apple stock when it hit its peak 🙂

i hate to ask this but does anyone know if you jailbreak your phone if that helps the IOS7.1.1 battery issue or does nothing really change?

this is just getting crazy...leave my phone on my desk for 40 minutes and it goes from 95% to 79%
