Battery drains after installing iOS 7.1 on my iPhone 5

Dear All

Can you please help me out, my iPhone 5 battery drains in 2-3 hours after installing iOS 7.1. I am not rigorous user and also turned off motion option. Since installing 1 day ago I atleast have charge for 10-12 times without so much use.

With iOS 7.0.x, my iPhone just require 1 time charging in whole day with same apps.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Regards,

ZRC.

This happened to my iphone 5. I looked at the location service indicator and it seems like it is using location services for something that I'm not aware of. After turning on and off several time, it looks like I have to turn off "Frequent Location" under "System Services". Not sure if this was a new feature on ios 7.1 but it started to bug me after ios 7.1 update.

Dear I also tried every possible thing to improve battery life including full restore but no improvements. Now I keep Refresh background app & Location service options off all the time but cannot keep my phone alive for even 4 hours.

I dont think there is any way to avoid / improve this. This is definitely a software issue not the device coz my phone was fine till ios 7.0.6.

I'm posting in hopes it helps get this resolved.

I too am having the same issue with battery drain on my iPhone5 since the update. I've restored it 3 times, attempted all the "fixes" I can find online with turning off certain features and such and nothing has worked. I even took it to the Apple store where they ran a diagnostic and was told that there was a Safari service running in the background that could be the culprit and that a restore should fix it. It hasn't.

I hope they find a fix soon. I shouldn't have to disable LTE or live in Airplane Mode to save my battery. It worked fine before iOS 7.1

I posted last Monday after installing the 7.1 update the day before. As I reported then, that update turned my cellphone into a landline. Previously I went most of the day without needing to recharge. Now I lose as much as 30% in an hour and fifteen minutes. I am posting today for two reasons. First, I want to report that I have tried EVERYTHING suggested on this forum. Nothing has worked. Secondly, I want to call out those smug posters who imply that people who can't fix this problem on their phones are idiots. I may not be an Apple tech, but I am sophisticated enough to have thought of and tried most of the suggestions on this board before they were posted. They have not worked: I got up at 4:15 this morning as is my custom. My house is wired. I checked the Weather Channel and then put the phone on the table. Absolutely no apps were running. At 5:30 a.m. when I headed out the door to run, my battery was at 67%. Tonight I am headed to the Apple store. I need a cell phone. I'll report on that tomorrow.

Yes, More than 14 days after update the iphone 5 to ISO7.1.

First, though the phone battery get issue almost decided to change the phone battery.Drain the battery juice rate like nobody. It very hot to touch while full charges and browsing facebook and some other web site.

Probe a digital temperature recorder. it can reach to 40 deg with room temp around 29-30deg at Singapore nite.Even normal browing the internet, the phone back side start to heat up quickly.

Before updated to iSO 7.1.The battery can last whole day.as i not often use my mobile to make call.

Second after Updated to iSO7.1. Using original USB cable provided by Iphone Lighting connection. It can't sync to computer after multiple attempt prompt message Trust computer. It still fail to sync the Iphone to computer unit. That very test up personal patient and temper. Finally still can't sync Up.

As understand prolong of heat up the battery. It will shorten the battery life span.

Same problem with my iphone. I,ve tried all the recommendations but didn't work. Finally my battery improved a litle doing this:

1.- switch off Find my iphone (not enough switch off location)

2.- switch off iCloud documents and data (used by whatsapp)

However no problem with ipad2 and iPad Air.

Good luck. Please apple fix the issue or we'll have to change the mobile
