Why is there a Spinning Wheel Most of the Time on my Home Screen After the 7.1 Update?

After the 7.1 update, I get a spinning wheel in my notification bar at the top next to the signal strength on my iPhone 5s.

I know that this means there is network connections going on when this happens, but why is it happening so much like this now?

Prior to the update, I only saw the spinning wheel up there when I was downloading an app.

So with it doing this so much, is it using my battery a lot?

What is it retrieving when doing this?

I have mail set to manual, the only notifications I get are for phone, messages, & calendar, and I have Background App Refresh & Location Services turned off.

Help will be appreciated.

The hard test worked for me as well on my 6+ thank you... do we know why it was doing that?

Thank you for the suggestion. Network reset fixed the problem. For last 2 days, my battery was draining like mad...

new Iphone 7Plus running ios 10.3.1 still has this problem. I have most background apps turned off.

Power off killed it, but I'm sure it will return. Not sure when, but sure it will.

Thanks man! Solution is turn off all automatic updates if It's possible.

A regular reboot solved it for now. Have to see how long this solution lasts based on what I am seeing from others.

Myself and partner are experiencing battery drains. I’d say at least double.

I have notifications for phone, texts. That’s all.

I think the problem is system update.

Me too. What’s up? I’m constantly having to restart my iPhone 6. My battery longevity is less than half of what it used to be.
