My iMac is runing very slow. Can anyone help me to speed it up again?

VLC, never sa any problems.
In any case you are in the mayority for Silverlight, Flip4Mac.
You are in the minority for VLC, try latest update?

I just updated VLC, I guess I was unaware I hadn't updated this in awhile.
I was still on a 1.x version.
Updated to the most recent version and it seems that my WMV files are viewable, now!
I haven't tried them all yet (I have about 3-4 dozen of these file type or so), but the ones I tested worked!!!
It's about time!!
VLC had given me problems like forever it seems.
It appears the last time I updated VLC was when I purchased and setup this this iMac. Sometime in mid 2012.

Pfff Michel: not updated... in most apps there is an "automatically check for updates" feature in the settings, and so it is in VLC too... 😁

I've never used Trusteer but have read bad things about it and recognize it as software that has caused problems.

Thank you very much for all your advise. I have carried out all that was suggested and will keep you posted as how it is going in a few days.
I also had the same problem as Michel with VLC and will be updating it to see if it works.
