Sound problem with iPad Air on iOS 7.1

Recently I just got the iOS 7.1 update on my brand new iPad Air. I'm really glad they fixed a ton of problems in this update but it also created some new bugs. Some of the ones I've experienced so far all seems to be related to sound. Below is a list of sound problems I found and I hope someone can suggest a workaround or a temporary remedy to them:

1. Keypad sound is lagged when entering passcode to unlock the device. When I wake the iPad up from sleep and enter the passcode, I notice the first press does not make a sound but the other three presses that comes afterwards do.

2. Keyboard click sounds is inconsistent. When I use the magnify select feature and try to add or delete a letter when writing something the first keyboard click doesn't come up.

3. The sound when initiating Siri is bugged sometimes. When opening Siri sometimes only one beep is heard and not the usual two beeps.

4. Volume for videos app sounds muffled. This is the biggest problem I have right now. The volume level for other apps are fine, like Music and Safari, I can listen to songs and watch YouTube vids and hear everything loud and clear when the volume is turned to one third of the max volume. But in videos I have to turn it up to three fourths of the max volume just to hear them talk.

Am I the only one who ran into these annoyances? Can someone offer a solution to fix them?

The original poster might not need this but I would just like to share what I did in case it would help others with the same problem.

When I turned on my iPad this morning, apps like Clash of Clans, Hay Day, etc. had no sound. When I tried to see if I could listen to music or watch movies form my music and video apps respectively, the sounds seem to be working just fine. Next, I tried to plug in my earphones. The sounds from the previously soundless apps worked. I searched the internet for solutions to this problem. I tried blowing into the headphone jack and cleaning it carefully with toothpick and Q-tips to rid it of lint. It didn't work. Finally, I found something in the about section of YouTube video.

SOLUTION (FOR ME):

I went to Settings>General. I changed the side switch from Lock Rotation to Mute. Then, I slid the side switch upwards so the red part wasn't showing. Voila! Sounds in all my apps are working now!

Hope this helps someone out there!

I am having sound issues also. My sound works and then it just stops. it's selective. some apps, the sound is fine, and others it doesn't work. Sometimes the sound is a bit echoey too. I restart and it has little to no effect. i especially have problems in YouTube and Safari, but Chrome seems to work. It's really annoying. I paid more money for a device that is supposed to be superior. This isn't the first time Apple has messed up a device with their confounded software updates.

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and posting in general so please forgive any mistakes I make. I too was having problems with my "Earphone Volume" being too low, even when I maxed out the volume manually and on screen. After I did some changes in "Settings", I found out what my problem was (I hope this helps anyone else who has similar issue).

Go to: "Settings"

Then: "Music"

Then "Volume Limit"

*Note: Make sure the "Slider Bar" is set all the way to the "Right"; this should "Turn-Off" the "Volume Limit" and turn "Earphone Volume" back to normal operation. I hope this helps, good luck and take care.
