When will the iPod Touch 6th generation be released?

When will the iPod Touch 6th generation be released? - So my birthday is coming up on April 27th, and I have an iPod Touch 4th generation that I want to sell to get a new iPod, so I can use iOS 7. I'm hearing that there should be a new iPod coming soon (the 6th generation), so I don't want to go buy the iPod 5 and then hear that the iPod 6 is out. I don't want to sell my iPod 4 until I know the release date of the iPod 6, because I want to know if I can buy it, when I can buy it, and if I'll be able to have it in time for my birthday. I'm not looking for an exact answer, I just want to know the month, or even a range of months that could be when it releases. I also hear that maybe they won't even make an iPod Touch 6th generation, so I would like info on that too.

Please help answer my question. Thanks!

Hey Reshaun, Not to be a party pooper-- and I want say right now, I don't know anything more than anyone else, But, this wouldn't be the first time Apple quietly let a model slip away. There's an old saying, "If it makes no sense... Follow the money". iPod sales are down, iPhone and iPad sale are up and iOS 8 appears to work better with iPhones and iPads. With that said, may explain why there is no new news for the iPod touch. Make of it what you will. Cheers.

They are not killing off the iPod touch line. Haven't you heard the rumors of Apple holding onto the iPhone 5/5s/5c sized screen phone as a lower end iPhone? This does not make sense when you think like Tim thinks, Tim wants as few SKUs as humanly possible (As you can see with the Mac Mini release that used the same logic board for the low and high end because the engineers were told to use a low price processor for the low end machine with a processor interface that was the exact same as the model that would be the top end Mac Mini. This is what led to the previous generation's top model posting much better specs than the more current model and getting a premium price in the marketplace. This was the first time that a new edition of a product did not degrade my feeling of my one of my current Macs (Mac Mini Server top i7 quad).

So while Apple may in fact be keeping around a 5c screen sized iPhone for certain markets, I would be willing to bet that this is also the basis of the upcoming new iPod Touch. It will renew a product line with updated Memory Choices (Read: 16GB/64GB//256GB). They are now trying to force the customer to purchase upward based on large gaps in memory choices (it costs Apple a negligible amount for the added memory versus the price they can demand). This is proving a money maker on the iPhone 6/6+ Sales, and I don't see them changing it anytime soon.

As for timing, it will be the first hardware announcement at WWDC followed by the 11" Retina MacBook Air as the "One More Thing." The newly updated iPhone based on the new iPod Touch for the lower cost markets will be a silent release put up on the website following the keynote. My guess anyway.
