Insufficient Content for Edit Question

Hi There,

I'm trying to import a clip shorter than the clip on my timeline and get the above prompt. I don't want to make the imported clip longer, or make the timeline clip shorter...what should I do to do a superimposed clip in the timeline when this happens, when I get the insufficient content for edit prompt? Help would be greatly appreciated!

I Mac G5, Power Mac G4, Mac OS X (10.3.9), own FC Studio

I am learning, and I am not a slob, slooch or any other such thing...... one of my films recently won best narrative short at a film festival, so watch out guy! Anyway, I appreciate all of this help because you know, when you start learning a new application, there is a learning curve and some of these issues mentioned on this forum are not, in my opinion easy to find in the HELP menu for the apps, or in the books for FC Studio. So, please....no more insults...

Way to go!

You'll still be hard pressed to impress some of this bunch. We have been professionals in the biz for quite some time. But you keep doing what your doing and hopefully we'll see your name on a big feature or TV show.

So, please....no more insults...

Insulted? Who insulted you? By saying to use the keyboard or that you need to have a better grasp of the software? C'mon...

you think that was an insult? Jeeze louise, you're going to have to get a thicker skin, amigo. I didn't say you were sloppy, I said dragging things around was a sloppy way to work. And it is.

You want insults? I empty my nose at you, you empty-headed animal food trough washer! your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

Try catching me on a good day!

Sharon,

Well the arrows worked. I think what I was doing was putting the clips on the track above more quickly, not seeing whether the arrow was pointed up or sideways. But, this certainly works. Thanks so much! My complete question hasn't been answered about the insufficient content for edit, but this part certainly has. I'm grateful!

Hey, I was just kidding around with you guys......well anyway: it seems that to superimpose one clip above the other on the two tracks you have to have both with the same in and out points, meaning the same lengths. However, if you want to just bring in a clip above an existing track, you do what Sharon is suggesting which works fine. So, is this right? is there some other way to superimpose besides making say a short title the same length as a longer clip--the track below it? Hey, don't be grumpy! it's a beautiful day!!

I'm sorry, but I thought that would be obvious. To put a title to cover a 5 second clip entirely it too must be 5 seconds. 3 seconds wouldn't work, thus the INSUFFICIENT CONTENT FOR EDIT.
