Macbook Pro 15" Mid (2010) clean install with Mavericks! Nothing but crashes...Very disappointed

Decided to upgrade to Mavericks since Snow Leopard is no longer supported and I wanted to stay current with technology. However I wanted my computer like new again so instead I erased my drive and did a complete clean install of Mavericks.. No problem... Lately I have had nothing "BUT" problems. I have gotten computer crashes while using finder & safari... My system is not reliable anymore it just completely restarts at random it is the most frustrating thing I've ever had to deal with (EVEN PC'S AREN'T THIS BAD). Mind you I "NEVER" had these issues with Snow Leopard it ran perfectly and I fell in love with Mac. I bought my macbook pro 15' "BRAND NEW" online from apple store paid $2400 and recently discovered that my macbook pro mid 2010 model is defective. Boy I really wish I would of known that before dropping $2400 on an unreliable laptop to just give me problems. I no longer have a warranty which is long overdue. And it really makes me dislike the company as a whole. I have repaired my harddrive more than once and have repaired errors and it still crashes. Before on Snow Leopard my superdrive stopped reading all cd's/dvd's. I thought maybe if I upgraded to Mavericks it would of fixed the issue...NO. Sometimes when I hook up my built in display I get random black screens and I have to just shut down my mac..This is happening by just streaming "NETFLIX" from my flatscreen..mind you it does not "ALWAYS" happen. I'm just looking for answers and I seriously want to downgrade back to Snow Leopard cause Mavericks is too buggy! Any help would be very much appreciated. I find it difficult to even still support apple...I even have a darn iphone. Please someone help me 😟 I am desperate. I use my macbook for dj'ing and have had crashes in the middle of my gigs due to mavericks crashing my system. It's quite depressing, sad and pathetic. Thank you for any help.

When you did your "clean install", exactly what did you do? After you erased your HD, how did you do the reinstall? Did you do it from a backup? Did you reinstall apps from backups?

Macs that misbehave with Mavericks usually do so because they have old/bad/incompatible software on them.

It would help to give us more information. Etresoft: EtreCheck is a free app developed by one of the contributors to this forum which will generate a system report on your computer. If you can paste the report here we can take a look and see what might be the problem.

My English is bad, but I have a possible solution to your problem. Some macbook pro mid 2010 (like mine) have a Nvidia card failure, which causes the computer to shut down or restart at any time. I stopped this by doing the following:

- Install the application gfxCardStatus (used to monitor graphics cards)

- Once installed one icon in order should appear with the letter "i" in the top bar. Click on that icon.

- Click on "integrated only"

This leaves the macbook running only the integrated card and can not connect a second display. However, in my case it helped to stop kernel failures and unexpected reboots.
