iOS 7.1 lock screen freeze issue

Issue started when I upgraded the phone to iOS 7. My iPhone 5 started freezing at the lock screen from time to time. I can pull down/up the notification/control center if it is enabled but cannot press or select anything. Pressing the home button will invoke Siri but if you ask to call someone or open an App it will ask to unlock iPhone first and will display the keypad but you cannot press any numbers. Only resolution I could find for this is to reboot the phone. My 2 friends, one using an iPhone 4S and another using an iPhone5, has reported similar issue. This clearly explains it is a software bug and not a hardware one.

Even with each minor update upto iOS 7.0.6 did not give any fix for this issue. And yesterday I installed the latest version of iOS, i.e 7.1 and I am quite dissappointed to say that apple has ignored all their users complaints. The issue still exists in 7.1. I do not understand how a company like Apple can simply ignore such an embarrassing bug that causes their phone to freeze at the lock screen. Such a shame apple. Such a shame.

SORRY TO SAY LATEST IS NOT WORKING!

NOTE: This is not a problem of iPhone 4S. I've tested iPhone 4, 4S, 5C also! It's happening in all of Apple's iOS devices including iPad. But iPod Touch and iPad Wifi only are in exception.

Problem: Lock screen freeze while some one miss-call or even you reject a call. It can happens any time! any time, but not always.

Test that I've tried: From last 6 month after releasing iOS 7 I had tested on 3 iPhone 5C and 2 iPhone 4 and 1 iPhone 4S, I experience the same issues even by following few:

  1. Rest by holding POWER and HOME button = failed, lock screen freeze few days after.
  2. Rest and Erase iPhone and "do not restore old data" + no iCloud Activation = failed, problem appears again.
  3. Turn off Settings -> Notification -> Phone -> Show in Lock Screen = failed, even the missed call is not appears in lock screen but it's still freezes.
  4. Turn off All Notification and Control Center in Lock Screen = failed, after 1 week problem appears again.

Temporary Solution:

  1. Switch off iPhone and turn it on again = success, but not for long time, it will happen again
  2. Receive any incoming call = success, but appears again.

I think:

My friend was using iPhone 4 (GSM Tata Docomo 2G, India, Kolkata) then suddenly he brought a new iPhone 5C (GSM Airtel 4G, India, Kolkata). He never experience this problem, I used GSM Vodafone 3G India Kolkata SIM in every experiment. So I think it's not problem in software and hardware it's PROBLEM OF SIM CARDS or CARRIERS.

FINALLY I TESTED IT with OTHER CARRIERS GSM SIM Cards. AND it works. NO FREEZE in LOCK SCREEN! Please try this things and help everyone!

(sorry for my bad English)

I am facing the same issue. I can scroll down the Notifications bar but can't click on any of the Notifications. I can't swipe the screen either.

The only two options I have are:

1. Pressing the Power button and switching off my iPhone and then switching it back on.

2. Asking a friend to call me. I am able to answer the call. So once I pick the call and disconnect it my iPhone unfreezes itself. I am then able to swipe my iPhone and unlock it. I tend to use the second option when I don't have the patience to shut it down and switch it on again because it obviously consumes a lot of time and 1% battery too.
