iPhone > Mac Laptop won't sync after update: "Trust this computer" message on repeat?

Looks like many PC users have a fix for this problem but I haven't seen anything specific for the Mac.

Last night, I installed the latest upgrade 7.1 my iPhone 5. When I connect to my main laptop (Mac Book Pro, Intel Core 2 Duo processor and running on OSX 10.9.2), I'm asked if I want "Trust This Computer?". I select TRUST, wait about 30 seconds and it asks again. I'm stuck in a loop.

I'm using the offical iPhone cable, rebooted my phone and my laptop, reset my iPhone settings, reinstalled iTunes on the laptop and still no success.

As a test, I pulled out my second laptop, which I travel with, and it trusted that device so I guess the issue is a laptop issue.

Any suggestions?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.1

Hey Patukka,

I've got the same problem on my iPhone 5s trying to sync to my 2011 Macbook air. It only happened after I updated iOS to 7.1. I spent about an hour and half on the phone with Apple support today. They sent the problem to the engineers b/c the lead tech support (on both OS and iOS staff) couldn't figure it out. They downloaded a bunch of system info and were going to go through it. I'll let you know what I hear back, if they fix it.

I am having a very similar problem trying to thether my Ipad 3 running iOS 7.1 to my Mac Book Pro running OSX 10 .9.2.

I tried the suggestion using the Disk Utility then rebooted Mac, started Itunes , then unlocked the Ipad, and connected the USB. The same problem appears.... the Ipad flashes the "Trust This Commputer" popup, but too fast to respond.

The error message from the console on the mac book pro is

I encountered the same issue with the messgae loop. Before reading this thread I verified disk permissions and found several discrepencies. After repairing disk permissions, I no longer have the message loop for my phone. I would suggest the disk permissions verification and repair first since it is much simpler before checking the lockdown folder. But it looks like there may be more than one way to solve this problem.

thanks for the response - no luck for me

I have run Disk Utility, and have done "Verify Disk Permissions" and "Repair Disk Permissions". During verify and repair it reported that there were differences with safari permissions. In any case I still have the issue that when I tether the IPAD to the Mac Book Pro - it goes into an endless loop.

Note I have been able to tether a IPad Mini to that Mac Book, and I have been able to tether the Ipad to an Imac, I just cant get the ipad to tether to the Mac Book (which is my development machine).

Any other help is appreciated.

thanks

Some other things that I have done without success.

The OS on both mac book and IPAD have been updated.

I deleted the lockdown files, and tried again - no success.

I followed instructions above to run command from terminal session, then delete lockdown files - no success.

Each time I try, I start with the IPAD unlocked, and ITunes running on the mac book.

The message that I am getting from ITunes is

"ITunes could not connect to this IPhone. This device is no longer connected". This message box is popping up at same frequency as the alert beep on the ipad.
