Same here. Upgraded to ios 7.1 on iPad Air 32gb two days ago and noticed significant slowdowns in apps and web browsing. Just did comparison speed tests and only getting 2mb / s download on home wifi using speediest app. In comparison I pus next to it my iPad mini running IOS 7.04 or iPod touch running 6.1 and those are getting a usual 19 mb/sec download.

Something is not right with 7.1 , I wish I never upgraded to it. Is there any way to roll back to 7.04?

I think that mean you need to restart (hold the home and lock button simultaneously until blackout) your iPad more often. At least maybe twice in a day. It helped my iPad mini.

And for the Wi-Fi, it's something Apple needs to fix. It's everywhere. From YouTube, to Safari, to Instagram, FaceBook and Twitter, and even AirPlay. Don't worry, it's a common software problem. Nothing is wrong with your iPad.

iPad running slow? How to speed up a slow iPad

If You Think iOS 7 Feels Slow Here’s How to Speed It Up

http://osxdaily.com/2013/09/23/ios-7-slow-speed-it-up/

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

 Cheers, Tom 😉

Same here. iPad Air wifi 64GB on an Apple Airport extreme router. The behaviour I have seen is if I restrict the router to 5ghz It works. Unfortunatly I have devices on my network that require 2.4 ghz and of course I dont want to be limited to those frequencies as I do need to leave the house.

Apple you need to fix this quickly. With 7.1 you have made my iPad next to useless.

An update on my fix for this issue. I have two AirPort Extreme APs serving my house, connected via an ethernet cable. I disabled the wireless on the second AP and that has solved the problem. It appears Apple has reintroduced some wifi roaming issues (and AirPlay) with the 7.1 release. For me, this has been fixed, although it took several complete AP resets as well as turning off the second APs wifi.

add me to the casualty list. did the update and now I have wifi 'issues'. Barely connects, and when it does it takes FOREVER to load a page and then it (Safari) will just stop working all together. My ipad is basically useless to me now. PLEASE APPLE FIX THIS!!!! I have also done EVERY thing 'suggested' to solve this issue, factory restore, airplane mode-> no airplane mode etc..., forget this network, reconnect to network, ad nauseam and NOTHING WORKS! I've warned everyone I know. Wish someone had warned me. :-(

I had the same problems right after upgrading to 7.1. I have done everything suggested , even completely restored to factory defaults my iPad air and set it up as a new device and o apps and still had the same issue. Then I found out some blogs talking about old issue where routers QOS ANS WMM settings on your router impact the speed on iOS devices.

I didn't believe it as I still had two other iOS devices running 7.04 and not having any issues. I have followed the instructions and located the WMM setting on my router and after disabling it my iPad air running 7.1 is getting 25mb / sec speeds again.

The WMM setting is a wireless setting and entailed by default on the router. You will have to login to you router via 192.168.1.1 page and locate the wires settings and look for something called WMM setting and disable it. Each router is different so you will have do the research on your router. I have Model Belkin Play Max / N600 HD (F7D4301/F7D8301) v1 running tomatoe firmware. If anybody needs exact steps for this router let me know otherwise just google your router name and WMM setting to find exact steps in disabling it.

This worked for me but believe me when I say when the iPad air was running 2mb/sec and pages were loading so slow, I was very upset with apple. Now I don't know what to think since it's not like apple can control our local routers setup.

Another suggestion I might have is to take your device to friends house and try on a different wifi to see how it reacts to different environment. Or take it to Meijer or any place that has free wifi access. Once you see that the device can run at high speeds you will believe a simple setting on your router can somehow impact the device function.

Good luck.

well, it looks like it's my Airport Express, not sending a strong enough signal... When i'm in the room with my AE (the one w/green light that plugs direct into the wall) my iPad (retina) Mini is getting the correct 25Mbps Up/Down

just in the other room it's not. It's like it's only going like 15 feet or something.

is there a way to get better range from Airport Express? (other than getting the new one - the while one that looks like the AppleTV)
