iOS 7 Email Signature Issues

I have been experiencing issues with showing email signatures with images on my iOS 7 and 7.1 decices. I post this topic on the iPad section because the same issue is showing up on both my iPhone 5S and my iPad Mini 2. Since my iPad is less than 24 hours old I figure this is an issue with iOS 7 since both devices are showing the same error.

I have a work email signature which has some text and 8 images. I am trying to simply use the same signature that I use for my works webmail and Outlook. So according to my research I found that it is possible to add an HTML email signature on my iPhone and iPad which are both on iOS 7.1 currently but the same issue was with 7 up to now. So I read that for email signatures that have more than just text(images and HTML) you simply email that signature to your self and copy the email signature and then paste in with that specific emails signature section under Settings - Mail - Signature and then that specific email.

When I did this the signature was able to paste just fine and display as I wanted it and even correctly used HTML image and text links that I have in it.

I was then able to reply to work emails as well as compose them with the email signature working just fine. But when I either tried to compose or reply to a work email abut the 3rd or 4th time I would see the email signature text and text html links working but each image turned into a white box. I first closed out of the settings apps to see if it was a glitch and found out that this change happens for some reason. So I then have to repete my copy and past process to get the signature back to the way I had it again.

The same thing happens ever time after about 3 tries to see if the email signature is working or not.

So my question is how can I use my html email signature on my iPhone and iPad with iOS 7.1 so the images do not turn into white boxes and stay exactly like I paste them in the email signature field?

This gets very old copy and pasting that soon each time. Does anyone have a solution that would allow me to set up the email signature how I want by a copy and paste and when I send an email with the default mail app on iOS 7.1 the email signature stays as it should?

Here is a screenshot of my email signature before and after so you can see what I am talking about (I did blur personal data to protect me)

iOS8 - Does anyone get the problem after all of these workarounds that you send the email to yourself and realize that the image doesn't even come through?

Did the workaround and did a test email to myself (Exchange 2010 Server) on the desktop computer and the image came through as a box with a red "X" saying "The linked image cannot be displayed. The file may have been moved, renamed, or deleted. Verify that the link points to the correct file and location."

If you insert photo on the email then it just comes through as an attachment. Can't get anything to actually look right once it is sent even with these workarounds.

Considering that Apple are pushing these devices to corporate users, this bug or lack of support for graphical email signatures is an appalling oversight. Most companies like to see their corporate logo in their email signatures and although it is currently a bit of a faff to get it into the settings field, there is no reason why this should not work. This is my work around until they fix it:

1) Send your iDevice an email containing the required signature.

2) Copy this to the iDevice email signature settings field and perform an Undo (shake device) to ensure the formatting is not altered.

3) Create a new email and paste the signature into this too (even if it already appears). Again shake / Undo to reset the newly pasted formatting.

4) Cancel the email creation without saving. You can now create, forward and reply to any email and the signature will be correct.

The bug is if you now close your email client fully, although the signature settings still show the correct signature including a logo, the email client no longer uses the logo and displays a white box instead. To get this back you need to copy the correct logo from the signature settings field and repeat steps 3 & 4 above to get it back. If you reboot your device then the signature settings will loose the logo too. If you are lucky enough to still have the full signature in your clipboard then you can just past it back into the signature settings field and then repeat steps 3 & 4 above. If not then you will need to email yourself the logo again, if you no longer have the original email (step1)

Come on Apple.....FIX THIS !!!!

If you want to send a Jpeg with your signature on the iPad, get the picture by email or else, save the image to your photos, go to the picture in camera roll of photos app, select to email this picture but you wil not send it, your email message will show up with your selected picture, select the pic in the body of the new to send email and copy. Go to signatures in Settings app, paste the copied image where you want it.

This works for me, the iPad now knows to send the existing pic in your photos app. so no ? again.

None of this seems to be a good fix for my 250 users on iPhone/iPad. When an image is in the email and I hit reply, I expect it to still be there. The person who sent it shouldn't have to go to their sent items to find it and see what we were talking about.

Take "signature" out of the equation. When we reply to an email, the image should stay intact. period.

FIxed it with an app " Web Capture" Or any other "free" web cap app. Browse in the web capture app. to a or your site where you can copy a picture which you like to choose in your mail signature. Go and paste in settings signature and it works for me, even after hard reset the picture stays and even in a reply The picture stayed after the paste from web cap app.

Somehow it needs hidden html in the signature fields which you can give by copy and paste from a web capture app. User uploaded file

Okay This is for everyone including the STAFF at APPLE

So I have been to an Apple store, where I found the Tech Staff were quite literally useless let a lone a little rude as in they didn't even want to try and find a work around or even a solution, They flat out told me NO THIS CAN NOT BE DONE, They also stated that a fix will more than likely never eventuate.

However this coming from someone with an IT Professional background. Have the answer, and this does work as I currently have a few Apple devices I have tested this on as the Family has quite a few, I have tested this on the following devices and they all have the most up-to-date firmware of IOS.

2 x IPhone 5

1 x IPhone 5s

1 x IPad 3rd Gen ( I haven't checked the gen but I'm sure it is)

1 x IPad Mini

Okay so now follow these steps.

  1. Create a photobucket account or any free photo file sharing website that is publicly viewable. I used photobucket, its your choice. (http://photobucket.com/)
  2. Once uploaded, you'll see the Photos you have place on the internet, click on the little "gear/Clog" Icon
  3. Click on share Links
  4. Copy the HTML code (DO NOT LOSE THIS CODE)
  5. Paste this code on a notepad for safe keeping you'll need it again
  6. This is where it may get a little tricky. Easiest way is to open a Free Hotmail/Live/Outlook account (http://www.outlook.com/)
  7. Once you're in your account, up in the right hand corner you'll find a little "Gear/Clog" Icon
  8. Click on the Icon and go to options > Formatting, Font & Signature.
  9. While in Rich Text Editing Fill out the Text details, I.E. Name, Contact Details and Address Lead click enter at least twice after your name so there is a gap you can visible notice via the script
  10. Change the Rich Text to Edit in HTML
  11. Now it'll look all foreign down in the edit panel unless you know HTML
  12. As an Example I'll Use my Signature or partial parts of it anyway
  13. Now if you have for example Regards, and your name the first line should be similar to this, please note the (<div><br>,<div> is a separate line created by the enter button from step 9) (Regards,<div>Nathan01</div><div><br></div>)
  14. Now copy the URL/HTML code from the photobucket images and paste them after the </div>
  15. Please note I only have 1 image on my signature. and I have not tried to do this with the Twitter and facebook links, however I can assume if you know HTML and are confident in the coding, you would only need to be a little creative
  16. After you have added the images send an email to your email account on the Apple Device, copy the whole signature and paste it into your signature pane in the settings>mail, contacts, calenders
  17. Shake the Device to stop it from making its own stupid corrections, click undo changes
  18. exit it out of the settings and open a new email to create one
  19. let it load and you should have your images. Depending on how many you may need to play around between the free outlook account and sending a couple of tests to get the layout correct for you.

I hope this helps out in some way. As I now have my images and a little relieved Apple devices aren't as useless as I thought, as I had previously owned an android device and had no issues with the signatures images.

Feel free to reply to this if you need more clarification I have considered creating a reply to this post with images.

Now what happens if someone sends me 4 images and asks me to comment on each one. Forget about the signature. Now when I reply those images are not there. They have to goto their sent items to see what each image was they sent me.

Workarounds are nice. But apple does need to fix this.

Unfortunately I wasn't actually addressing your issue craigreilly. I was simply only trying help those with the email signature issues with images. The issue you are talking about has never occurred with me as of yet so unfortunately I'm not sure what you're talking about.

I have sent a few emails to my partners' email address and she has replied and my images for my signatures have remained intact. I have sent her images as attachments and never had an issue either.

However as far as I'm concerned I wouldn't waste my time telling you to see an Apple Tech at one of their stores as they are absolutely useless.

From the research I have done, I have found that especially with the actual signature pane in the settings> mail, contacts, calenders, that the actual "placing or references" to the images being placed in the signatures are being lost as so to say or cannot be accessed so the device auto correct this by either removing the image or leaving the little blank box indicating there was something but its path is missing. The correct or workaround for it currently is to use a public file sharing site like photobucket as most apple devices especially with emails are access to the internet, allow the device to use the HTML code for the images to be located on a public directory.
