No disk to choose from on "Install OS X" screen

Hi,

I just installed a new hard drive and am trying to reinstall the OS X. When installing, I get the screen that says "Select the disk where you want to install OS X" with no disks to choose from. I checked the disk utility to see that the partition, etc was okay with the HDD. Still no options on the screen. I'm stuck! What do I do now?

annikaaa,

is the 750.16 GB Apple disk your new disk? Since the existing OS X Base System volume on it is 749.81 GB, that suggests that 0.35 GB (350 MB) is allocated to other purposes. Since the Mavericks recovery partition is 650 MB, that suggests that Mavericks is not yet fully installed on this disk.

Which model MacBook Pro do you have? Did your MacBook Pro originally come with two grey installation DVDs in the box?
