Simple solution that I read on another post and worked for me is Hard reset..
Just Click and hold the Home Button and the Power button simultaneously till the iPhone screen turns black...
Thanks
Yes, it fixes the problem for that session but if you try to access the AppStore again, the problem comes back.
We are not talking about a solution that you will have to restart your phone every time the problem accrues, rather a one time solution to the problem.
I've noticed that whenever the Home Screen on my iPhone 5 is showing, the Network activity icon is always spinning. Is this normal, or is it an indication of trouble that needs service?
Where is an Apple technician? Apple is going downhill. We need an Apple employees assistance!

IIf read the term of use when you sign up for them forum you would know that there is no Apple here in this user to user technical forum.
If you need assistance or an Apple technician then I suggest you go to the Apple store and seek help there.
What do we know?? This is a pointless forum

Based on your attitude doesn't seem like you're actually looking for help.
So it seems this problem is caused by the app store, to stop it you must go to the app store, sign out, close all your apps, switch the phone off and on again, this should solve it... the little network symbol dosnt appear when in "standby" Its not caused by any apps running in the background (well, at least none of the apps i have) .... but next time you use the app store the problem will start again...
Men this is blowing up my mind!! I was at work with my iPad Mini and iPhone 5, then the network activity started on both devices and didn't stop.
Ok, so I got home and got my iPad Retina and then: That stupid network activity was running over there too! I didn't touch in a single thing.
The worst of everything is that my iPad mini and iPad both and my iPhone are in different iCloud accounts. I simply don't know what the **** is happening, that have never occurred before and my it's eating my battery.
I reset Statistics (Settings/Cellular all the way down and click on Reset Statistics) and in 45 minutes my iPhone 5s used 25MB of Cellular data. I dont know how fast the battery drains because I have it plug quite often, but it seems they are some network activity running. As a verizon user I dont have unlimited data, so I think I just found why I have to keep upgrading my data plan every month.
Finally Stop after doing this:
Update all apps from App Store.
Disable Use Cellular Data for Itunes and App Store as well as Music and Videos
disable all Apps use Cell Data
Wifi and Bluetooth off
Turn phone off and back on
Enable Apps to use Cell Data.
Wait few minutes
Turn Wifi and Bluetooth back on
I got this problem after canceling an ongoing update for an app. I later went to the same app, updated it again and it worked. Problem solved.
Totally worked. Will update if the trolling update icon comes back. Appears that shutting the App store is the key.
