Thank you for the message. If IOS 6 was working on my Ipad can I downgrade again to IOS 6? I saw another 3 persons with the same problem. If with 6 was working and with 7 not working I don t think that the Ipad is the problem.
Unfortunately not. Downgrading iOS is not supported.
Any update? Ahhh this is sooooo frustrating. 😐
Hi there
It just happened to me as well this morning. Looking at the forums, not even Apple knows what causes this. This morning I had a woring iPad2 and this afternoon I have an expensive paper weight. It's actually quite shocking.
It's not an everyday occurence it seems...I nominate that Apple replace these few devices displaying this message as this is clearly something very very weird. And I have to reiterate...this morning my iPad was working perfectly and after the reset it was gone.
I took it to my local Apple Store without any luck. They couldn't fix it, so I have no idea what to do from here...I feel robbed...
User jamjam1770 posted this response to the same problem. You may have to contact Apple support and ask to be bumped up to a more senior support person.
"OK I hve just had my iPad2 restored and backed up to perfect after a couple weeks of this mess.
Major thanks to Rose in Apple Support 2nd tier senior superstar for sticking with this issue to resolve
It worked for me today after doing this 10-15 times previous - I beleive some server settings were adjusted and ow we are good to go!
to fix:
1. delete the ipsw file from ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates
2. put the device into recovery mode by powering it off with the plug in the device, hold the home button while plugging into the computer.
3. unplug the device while the download is coming down unless its less than 5 min.
4. put the device in recovery mode again
5. restore the device"

I agree. I feel robbed too. 😟
kger - did you try Ralph's solution? You might have ended up with a corrupted ios download, and going Ralph's route would clear that problem.
any update guys? i have the same problem now. i just upgraded today. and showed me the same message. i am really ******.
Nothing. I restore my Ipad every day, maybe something change- but still the same message. I have one month since i i can't use my ipad. I hoped that someone from Apple checked the problem and came with a solution. It is not fair and is not normal. I saw anyway that most of the problems are with Ipad 2. if they know about this they should replaced all the ipads with this problems free, not charging us.
You just upgraded today - so did you try any of the solutions noted in this thread that people have said worked for them? In particular, Ralph9430' solution above.
Try the solutions here - they obviously work for some people.
No, is not working. Actually I think he was just lucky because the solution he use(Ralph9430) it is just a simple Recovery - nothing else - I did this everyday for 2 weeks and nothing. Practically you just have to delete the last IOS image downloaded and to install a fresh one, just to be sure that you don't have a corupted one. But it is not working.
The Ipad, in background is working - you can take a screen picture and after that you can download it to a computer; when you connect the Ipad in Itunes you know that depends of the IOS you use you have a picture of your device and the background image of this is according to the IOS variant you use. So the background is for IOS 7. (the blue sky......).BUT the Ipad can't pass the activation process. so is not hardware problem(as the service guys tried to convinced me and to buy another one). It cannot be a hardware problem because I see almost every day that more and more owners got the same problem AFTER RESTORING OR UPGRADING the device. Untill this point IPADS worked GREAT.
Same problem here for my iPad 2 as well. Restored everyday multiple times and still isn't working. I can guarantee that it isn't a hardware problem
yeah its not a hardware problem. i am trying to downnload the ios 7.1 to restore to that state. i'll ust try if that will fix the problem.by the way i am from ios 5.1.1 before i upgraded to 7.1.1, ill try the 7.1 today. wish me luck guys
Once at 7.1.1, you cannot downgrade to 7.1.
