Gmail not working

Anybody else have trouble with gmail? I have it set up in my Mail app, but today it is showing:


There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “Gmail” or try again.


The server returned the error: Mail was unable to log in to the IMAP server “imap.gmail.com” using “Password” authentication. Verify that your account settings are correct.


The server returned the error: Too many simultaneous connections. (Failure)


Any idea what that is about?

I checked and unchecked it like 10 times before.

I don't have two step verification set on gmail.

I deleted and set up all internet accounts (including iCloud, gmail) two times already. Tried to set it up as Gmail and also manually inserted the servers.

Tried different intervals of checking new mail like you recommended.

Tried to disconnect Wi-fi and connect iMac directly via cable.

I've read all threads about Mail problems. Some people have the same problem, there are many advices - none of them help so far. My wife's mail on MacBook Air and my friend's Mail on iMac work well both with gmail accounts. The same settings.

Eliminate Mail by testing in Postbox and MailMate. Both have demos.

Setup in MailMate is super easy since it imports your account info from Mail. MailMate supports IMAP only.


Postbox has a nice interface and includes features like adding DropBox links in a message.

Same with me. This Mail JUST doesnt work. I did every possible thing.

But the error is the same! And I am not logged in from ANY OTHER account / device.
