Apple TV - Radio Stations

My Apple TV stopped playing radio stations a few days ago. Now all i see is the message "Loading Internet Radio Stations" but nothing happens. My Network is fine, Internet is fine, not sure what's happening. Help please.

I found a work around for not being able to access the internet radio stations on ATV gen 1. I have a macbook pro runnning OS X ver 10.7.5. My itunes is ver 11.1.5 (5) In my music library playlist section I created a playlist and labeled it "Radio". As I am able to get to the internet radio stations on my laptop, I choose which radio stations I want and add them individually to the "Radio" playlist. When I sync itunes with APPLE TV, these radio stations are in the RADIO playlist. I can now listen to my favorite internet radio once again!

How to view Radio PLaylist on Apple TV? Go to the INTERNET/ RADIO menu on ATV. Here you see the catergories of Radio Stations. On top of the list is PLAYLISTS! Click on this and then choose which station you want to listen to in your personal radio playlist (once you have created your playlist in itunes- see above comment regarding creating radio playlists.

🙂 And we are back in business.

Dear capecodmama,

I'm delighted you found your "work-around," but using iTunes 11.1.5, on ML 10.8.5 will NOT perform at all.

Your second post really threw me, as it contradicts what you said you did in the 1st post. Maybe I have misunderstood.

I created a new internet radio playlist in iTunes, and then went first to the "Music" in my iTunes Lib, tried "Radio" first, and couldn’t make that work. Then I discovered that there was also an "Internet" button too.

I was successful in adding a few internet radio stations to my new "Internet Radio" playlist, and thought I was really on to your work around, but then going to AppleTV, and selecting "Shared Library"/Playlists, the new playlist was NOT there.

Your 2nd post implies that you did this in AppleTV through the "Internet/Radio" tab on the home page, but for me this still has no listings whatsoever in it besides "Radio."

Have I not followed your instructions properly, or is it the fact that I'm running your most current ML OS?

Thanks,

George

George -

n.b. Had a bit of trouble sending this the first time so here's my complete answer.

I have the original Apple TV which, as others have documented, has been unable since 3/26 to access radio stations listed under the internet pull-down. It's using O/S 3.0.2 the last update available for these 1st ATVs. I'm able to sync its contents with iTunes 11.1.5 on a 27" iMac but as I noted I see no "internet" choice under the Music option in iTunes -rather I have a videos button where you seem to have an internet button.

Dear ROBERT MORAN2,

I'm sorry... I guess I didn't explain myself very well. I do understand you are on a 1st gen AppleTV, like me, but what operating system on your iMac are you using? I am running the highest release of Mountain Lion, 10.8.5.

Since you have had some success, and I haven't, there has to be a difference in our setup.

Actually, I run my AppleTV through iTunes 11.1.5 on a headless Mac Mini also running 10.8.5 on my network that also doubles as my home automation machine. I communicate with it through screen sharing on my iMac also running 10.5.8.

I'm delighted you've found a work around, but I can't seem to replicate it.

Looking forward to hearing about what OS you're ru7nning.

Thanks,

George
