Document could not be saved file does not exist

Strange, while attempting to save a file to a subfolder of my Documents folder I get an error saying "The document Untitled could not be saved as "-----" . The file doesn't exist." Whereas, if I save it directly to the documents folder, rather than the subfolder, it saves just fine. I googled it but nothing turned up. It's not a huge problem but it's irritating that I can't save to subfolders. Any ideas?

I am seeing the same BUG (Apple, this can't be desired behavior). I have read, write, execute permissions on the subfolder. Current (inefficient) workaround:

  1. Save to Documents
  2. Move to...

    Select subfolder.
