Signing into MLB TV
I can't sign in to MLB TV on my Apple TV. My sign in works on my ipad, etc, so it not a user I'd or password issue. Anyone else having this problem or have a solution? Thanks!

I have the same "Invalid credentials" issue with my Apple TV and the MLB.tv. I just called MLB.com and they said I needed to add a debit or credit card to my payment profile on MLB.com. That didnt't work. Cleared my credentials. That didn't work. MLB.tv works on both the MLB At Bat app and my PC. This is beyond frustrating, for we as good customers are wasting our time attempting to find a solution.
I also have same issue with slight variation. I don't have Direct TV but got it through Verizon Fios. Also whats even more frustrating is that last night it was working but with lots of buffering delays. So I thought it may help to sign out and sign back in. Big mistake. Now with the same correct credentials it won't let me sign back in and I get the Invalid Credentials error message. Same as everyone else, it works fine on IPhone, Ipad etc, just cant sign in to Apple TV. Tried the call to the customer service who says they show I have no active account, yet when I go to the MLB.com site and log in it says under audio/video subscriptions that I am subscribed to MLB.TV premium. Customer service suggested I call verizon but I know thats a waste of time. If any of you figure this out please post it here. Thanks
That's very funny TEB9 because with my DirecTV-MLBTV log in - it actually says under audio/video subscription that I do not have an active subscription. However, it works on ps3, Android phone, Macbook, etc. Hopefully they get this genius'd out sooner rather than later.
we all have tried that several times raja and it does not work. this is an issue with those of us that have the mlb.tv with our directv extra innings package and trying to view thru apple tv. the clear credentials does not work for us. Hopefully before game 162 apple or mlb.tv gurus will have this thing figured out.
I did exactly what raja said and it worked for me. I subscribed to MLB.TV Premium through iTunes using my iPad mini. I had to go to "Settings" on the At Bat app and select "Connect Purchase to MLB.com," which then ties it in with your MLB.com profile. (If you don't have one, it's free to create one on MLB.com.) Then my iPhone's At Bat was able to get the streaming video of games, but still not my Apple TV. So I cleared my credentials (I had no problems last year getting Apple TV to accept my MLB.TV Premium subscription) and signed in again with my MLB.com email and password. And voila! I finally had acces to streaming video of games on Apple TV. I don't know about having DirecTV Extra Innings, as I have cable through my apartment with no extra frills. But this worked for me as someone who purchased the MLB.TV Premimum subscription using iTunes. Thanks, raja!
I sent an email and this is what they told me and it works...
Go into your At Bat App>> bottom left tap MORE>> top left tap SETTINGS>>tap MLB.com Account>>tap LOG OUT>> Log In with your current mlb.com email &
password>>tap DONE>>after account verify's>> top right tap SETTINGS>> top right tap arrow>> tap SCORES at bottom left>>top right tap headphones>> Chose a
game.
I actually tried that just now and it doesnt work for me. It seemed so ridiculous to even try but the whole thing makes no sense so I tried it. No luck. I also tried talking to a MLB.TV customer service rep again. Pointless. They are very hard to understand and seem to have no clue how to fix this. Her only suggestion is to buy it again which I refuse to do.
Well I tried it on IPhone and IPad and no dice. That trick doesnt work for me. I also echo the sentiment above regarding MLB.TV customer service. What a contrast with Apple or even Verizon for that matter both of whom have been excellent in helping fix a router and set up my new Macbook Pro.
I have been on the phone with MLB.tv technical support level 1 and 2. They were both worthless and had no clue. I can get complete access to MLB.TV via my iPad, iPhone and Windows computer. I get the same credential error message when trying to log in on my Apple TV.
When I go into My mlb.com on the mlb.com website under Audio/Video Subscriptions it shows
"You do not have an active MLB.TV or Gameday audio subscription."
Which in fact I do via Direct TV MLB Extra Innings. Which I linked so that I can get it on all my other devices.
It also won't let me log into the forum on MLB.TV since I am allegedly not a subscrber.
i dont think he did because i tried the at bat log out and log in trick and still no mlb.tv on apple tv for week 2 of the season and still no valid response from mlb.com customer service via e-mail or phone. i did receive a e-mail from mlb.com support about calling them to try a few things about two days ago but i am quite sure i have unsuccessfly tried just about everything and not only that just trying to understand the person at mlb tech support makes me not want to call back. my hope is the technical gurus are able to find a sloution and post it here or on their mlb.com forum page but i would not hold my breath. for what its worth i really dont think they care about the issue and for that matter neither does directv. i bet if we all just told directv to cancel our mlb extra innings package because of this mlb.tv issue that would get their attention. just frustrating......
MLB.tv said to log out of all devices (iPhone, iPad, computer) then try logging in to AppleTV (doubt this will work). Also then try rebooting the AppleTV, which I also doubt wil work. I wanted to share what I am getting from tech support on mlb.tv.
I figured. As I was talking on the phone and the customer service rep was going through the steps I would say ok I tried doesn't work what else you got, because I know that this clearing and logging in is NOT actually the root of the problem.
Got a call back from MLB.TV. This time from someone that was a native English speaker. Told me that they were having some success with resetting all settings. Also if it doesn't work the first time to try few more times. I did it 5 times with no luck. Since it takes time she said someone would call back and check on my status. Unfortunately I forgot to ask her what plan B was if this didn't work. They know they have a problem but can't seem to figure it out.
I have tried that everyday for two weeks knowing that's not the problem but at this point I will try anything. I think it's a subscription issue or something relating to that. I try to go to the mlb forum under their web site on mlb.com under mlb tv and it says you must have a active mlb subscription- go figure. I have tried looking on the directv forum since I am assuming our problem is with the directv extra innings package that comes with mlb.tv and they are more lost then the techs at mlb. For now I am using my PS3, I pad, Mac, and I phone but have to admit I want to use my Apple TV for the service. Thanks for the effort devaxv, let's hope we get this resolved soon or at least before game 162. If I get a resolution I will be sure to post it here and if any other poor Apple TV sufferer gets a solution let us know. Thanks.
I just received a call from MLB.TV's technical manager as I sent an email to MLB Executive Relations telling them their support sucked. He told me MLB or Apple are pushing out an update in the next few days that should resolve our problem. He thought it would be by the weekend.
When you try to log in if you get a new error that says "fingerprint error" you should should reset your Apple TV to clear it. Then you should be good to log into MLB.TV with the Apple TV.
We shall see................
