Editing Flash movies

Hi,

this is a pretty weak question, but I know these forums are the best; so I know I can get the right answer to my question.

I have been watching YouTube and notice that a lot of the people make "mash-ups" out of other people's posted video. YouTube is in Flash.
My question (I am o.k. at FCP) is how do they, what, "download" flash videos to edit into new mash-ups?
How is that done? How do you capture and edit some else's Flash video? And most importantly, can you do it with FCP?

As far as I know, this one doesn't work either Zap - YouTube famously keeps updating its distribution methods faster than the downloaders. And it's not that handy anyway, since it requires that conversion process.

I just did it this morning, so I know it works. Also, since the op's goal is to convert a YouTube video file to an FCP-friendly format, it seems to me that using conversion software would be a lot more straight-forward and higher-quality than a screen capturing process.

Great. Though I seriously doubt that there's any possible difference in quality - garbage in, garbage out, as they say, i.e. it's so lorez to begin with.

Watch for YouTube to switch it up soon! I used a bunch of tricks that worked on YT six months ago and don't any more - you can find them all over the net. Glad to hear this one works.
