i have received an email asking me to verify my apple account by clicking on their link . Is this a scam?

It is possible. What address did the mail come from and who is the mail addressed to?

Ok. I opened the link, it appears to be the support page for Apple ID (though it's in French).

The UPDATE NOW link appears to deal with a game- Gangcraft? If you know what gangcraft is, it might be ok.

Yes because apple never sends emails asking to verify your account. So yes it is a scam and just ignore it. If it would be real you would get a little pop up thing like when your about to buy an app except it would ask to verify your account.
