Shared music and movie library stops loading

The shared iTunes music and movie library stops loading on my ios devices.

iTunes 11.1.5 is set up for both home sharing and library sharing over my secured home wifi network. Home sharing between the mini that is running iTunes and my old Macbook works without any issues.

My ios devices can see and will eventually connect to the shared library but connecting is pretty slow unless the ios devices are in the same room with the mini.

After a few hours my ios connection to the shared music and movie library drops and stops loading halfway when I try to reconnect.

The ipad is running ios 7.1 and my iPhone is running ios 6.1.3.

iPad Air Wi-Fi, Cellular, iOS 7.1

Wow - nice find. Worked for me too - at least to get the library up In a reasonable time.

Only downside is it seems you need to do this every time - if I click back to device library and then straight back to the home sharing it dies again.

This worked for me also. Not perfect but faster. I have also emptied my entire video library but for one small video. This did nothing to speed up the loading of the library. My appleTV loads instantly. My new iPhone6 loads a little quicker than my iPad retina. The iPad is the one I want to use most often obviously.

I have EXACTLY the same problem trying to load a shard library on my iPad 2. As a matter of fact I've NEVER been able to view my shared library on that device. It takes forever to load, and usually stalls at about 50% and never finishes. Signing out and back in doesn't help me at all. My home sharing library takes about 20 seconds to load (or faster) on my apple TV. Likewise with a 7 year old windows laptop. This is ridiculous, and possibly embarrassing that I can get it to work on an old windows machine, but not my iPad. This non-response from apple is one reason I don't have any iphones or macs in my house. They refuse to acknowledge that this is even an issue.
