Pages for iOS freezes when selecting.

Hi there. I have been experiencing issues on my iPad when I select things in Pages for iOS. When I try and select things, it freezes the app for 10-15 seconds the would respond. But expanding the selected area would freeze the app again. It only happens when I select things. It doesn't freeze the iPad, only the app. It only does this in Pages. When I type in Notes, Calender or any other application with a keyboard, it doesn't freeze. Only in Pages. I have deleted and reinstalled the app. Restarted the iPad and have left it to die and recharge it form 0%. This is annoying me as I can't change font colour, size or style. I can't even use auto correct when reviewing documents. I am sick of it and need help ASAP. If any of you can help, that would be very muchly appreciated. Thank you.

I have the same issue recently on my 64GB iPhone 5s.

The airplane mode, turning off wifi/mobile data, reboot etc. didn't work for me.

I was also able to go back to an earlier version of ios pages, which hadn't been updated in my computer itunes, but the same problem persists.

I think the issue may stem from the latest iOS 7.1 update rather than the app itself. Is there anyone out there with the same issue, but running an earlier iOS?

Thanks for the information, I didn't know that iPhone users had this problem. If you has read my previous post, you could see that I had had the problem from the beginning, that is, with iOS 7.0 and Pages, Numbers and Keynote 2.0. But there is a matter that surprise me, you say that you have the same issue 'recently', that means that you haven't got it before or you cannot remember it? Anyway, I could solve the fail, first restoring, that is making a backup with iTunes in the computer and turning the device at the original configuration, without restore the backup I check then the problem had disappear, but I could try on if wifi or cellular activation have influence, because then I didn't know it. I restored the backup and turned off wifi and cellular connections and made a hard reset. Since then I can control the fail only turning off wifi and cellular. I know it isn't a solution but define the problem and reduce the effects. I have opened a new question in order to obtain additional information from other users and to know if Apple must update app or we must request an exchange of our devices.

Best Regards

I only noticed the problem about 10 days or so ago.

For the first time in a long while, I used one of the templates the app offers ('note taking' to be precise), and the trouble seemed to start after that.

I hadn't noticed it earlier, but I'm sure I must have been using it without the problem, because I must have been selecting text often.

I have tried with hard reset and turning off data connections (although I had to turn them off again after they automatically turned themselves back on after the hard reset) - this didn't work. I have not yet tried a factory restore etc. and am reluctant to go through that hassle just yet.

Interesting also that I tried to write this in my review of the app, and this review hasn't appeared - strange.

Hope they're working on a solution - it would be good if they could post something up to the effect "we're working on it", as this app is important to me.

Excuse me I have send the previous post I incomplete by mistake, then I repeat it,

I already receive the technical support answer about this issue, they have tried on selecting text in iWork app within a few iPad Air alternating between wifi turn on and off and they haven't appreciated freezes in no case.

Then it seems that the problem is not related with iWork app but how the device works. However, before to apply for the exchange of it for other, I have pending the following proofs,

- Restoring again the device, install only iWork app without restore backup and try on how it works turning on/off wifi and cellular connections in a new document. If that test fail would indicate the device is broken-down, if it works well would indicate the backup is the problem.

- All the same, it could be other odder explanation, that is the freeze depends on the speed that the connection runs -technical support could has tried on it in fast one and mine is slower. This would be a bad news because would indicate that iWorks app finally are wrong programming - I remember that this fail not happen in other app- or worse, iWorks app could send information by selecting text - I don't know for what and toward where. I know that is a bit paranoid, therefore I hope I haven't to try it on. Besides, it only occur when magnifier appears as a consequence it is a rare interaction between graphics magnifier animation and connections behavior that point out the hardware is guilty, but why only in iWorks app!

I hope I find definitely a solution soon because I have already lost a lot of time. I will expose my conclusions.

Hi there,

Same with me. I've just updated to Pages 2.2.1 (whilst still on iOS 7.1), and it's no longer freezing.

The iWork team contacted me and asked for some details, like some others (see parrallel discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5526493?tstart=0 ). I was able to provide some of the details, but I couldn't sort out the crash report they asked for; I kept getting siri when doing that thing with the home button.

I'll update the iOS later today. I hope it doesn't mess things up!

P.S. Running pages on iPhone 5s

Pages for iOS freezes when selecting.
