Resetting all network settings does not include Bluetooth settings, as all my Bluetooth devices were still listed in the Settings menu. Apple's article states that this process will reset "all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN, and APN settings" so maybe there's a long term and short term storage for Bluetooth device history?
I did find that turning off the wifi connectivity in my iPhone5 seemed to stop the bluetooth from this connection/disconnection cycle. I have a wifi-enabled OBD2 reader in my car. I'm not sure if the problem persists while the wifi is connected, but I'll verify that.
I've read that it's important to have the bluetooth device fully charged. This sounds like a stretch, but I'll confront this issue with a full charge, this evening, and report on the outcome.
iOS8 is expected to be released on or around the 10th, by previous release dates. If no other solution is found, we may find that Apple has corrected or worked around this issue with that update.
I have read in a number of posts that newer iOS and Honda vehicles have difficulty pairing. Some users have reported it is a software issue in the vehicles. The CRV is one of the worse from what I have read. Users have gone to the dealer to find there are updates to their radios that need to be done. When Apple updates phones/iOS, they make sure they have the latest Bluetooth stacks in them. Since the phones are updated a lot more than our vehicles are, then sometimes they get out of sync.
I have not had any issues with my Hyundai, but did notice with the last update I did to the phone had to remove the pairing of the phone from both the car and the car from the phone and pair them again. I've not had any issues since then, and I can use the device almost to the point of 30% battery or less when traveling.
I tested to see if the problem persisted with the wifi connected to the OBD2 device, and it did. I also tested with a full charge. No solution there.
I used the Honda's AUX button to switch from the USB line (iPod/USB support) to bluetooth, and it played my music continuously and flawlessly for my entire drive, without connection/disconnection issues. It seems, if you're using bluetooth, it will stay connected. I assume this means using the handsfree system for calls would work the same.
This moves the perceived weight of the "problem" to be that the display is regularly distracting you with updates on bluetooth connectivity, as well as possible battery drainage on the device. If iOS8 doesn't fix this situation, I'll seek this out further.
This is what I've read as well. The CRV does seem to be the problem child, which is surprising because one might expect that the iMid systems would be the same. I've tried removing all stored pairing information, on both devices, without a solution. I'm wondering, if that's really where my problem lies, if I'd need to reset the iMid system by pulling the battery to reset the car's computer, as well.
As I noted in my reply to my own thread, I'm hoping the update fixes this. Thanks for your reply! It's great to hear you've resolved your issue.
This same problem started for me last week. It just intermittently disconnects and reconnects, at least once every 5 minutes, after having worked ok for a few weeks with no problems. I have an iphone 5c, as does my daughter and I have a 2013 Honda Civic. I tried pairing my daughter's phone and it has no problems (we were on an hour and a half long trip), so I've ruled out the car. I deleted my connection and reconnected from scratch, and still have the problem. I did not have a single problem like this ever with my iphone 4S I just upgraded from. I did follow this that was on the support page:
"Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN, and APN settings."
but it looks like other people did with no resolution. And my bluetooth info is all still there, but I had to reconnect my wireless router. Has anyone else found a solution?
Thanks,
Marcia
@Marciaq21 - Are your phones running different versions of iOS? At one point, my phone was updated to 7.1.2 before hers was, and that seemed to be when the problem popped up. Wondering if it's an issue with 7.1.2 that might be repaired when the iOS8 update comes out tomorrow.
@Becauseofbecause - I believe they are, but will need to check (good idea). So turning off the wifi was the only thing that ended up working. However, the interesting thing is after resetting the network settings, my bluetooth now acknowledges that it can read text messages to me, which when I first set up the phone it said it could not do.
UPDATE :
I backed my iPhone 5 up, reset it to factory settings, and installed the iOS 8 upgrade. I haven't had the problem since. Hopefully it's the update that solved the issue and not the full wipe, but it's worth noting to anyone who's still having troubles.
@ xchellz, i went to the settings in my phone:
"Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN, and APN settings."
I also deleted the phone from my car's bluetooth (I followed the instructions in the users manual, which I don't have in front of me right now to be more specific - sorry). I then "added" the phone back in. What is funny is when I first added my phone, it was supposed to read the texts to me (when I bought the car, I had a 4S, and the sales guy said it only worked in 5 and above, so I was bummed that it did not work for my 5C). I have no clue why it magically worked when I reinstalled it!
I've not upgraded to 8 yet, so I don't know how it will impact me, but probably will later today or tomorrow. I always wait a few days when the upgrades come out, just to see what problems everyone has first.
Good luck to you!
Marcia

I have a Iphone 6 with latest update.I spoke to Honda America and they told me that they have had no complaints and then I read this stream (Bull crap Honda) The dealer told me that the Iphone 6 was not compatible with my 2013 civic sedan 4 door. I spoke to another customer service rep at Honda and told me to delete all blue tooth connections from IPhone and delete everything as to devices from the civic. The next step was to turn the car off and turn the phone off then reconnect and that would fix my problem...IT DID for 2 weeks and now its disconnecting and reconnecting and some just closes down my blue tooth. I don't think anyone knows what is up, I'm sure that this is not happening to everyone. I am going to try again to delete everything from car and Iphone 6 and have to redo my voice speed list again!!!!! and see what happens. I might have to go back to my ear piece separate unit and just don't use the Civics Bluetooth. THAT *****
I have the Honda CR-V 2012 model and i bought iPhone 6 and i also have the same issue. I am driving 70 miles to my work and it keep reconnects the Bluetooth crazy (I am using Bluetooth sync to my car for last 7+ years). I contacted Apple and they replaced the phone today, but on the way back to home from Apple my phone again reconnected (i don't have this issue my previous Android phones)
Hopefully Apple may find the solution
I have a 2013 Honda Civic and I had an iPhone 4 not updated to IOS 8. Since purchasing an iPhone6 with the latest updates I started experiencing the same issues. I have not tried the Wifi trick yet. This really frustrates me as there is not much I can do but take the phone back as this is one of the main functions I use on the phone. Is there anything we can do to get this fixed as from reading the blog posts online there is not much being done to resolve this issue.
I have an Iphone 6 plus 128 gb and a Honda 2012 CRV. I just got my iphone 6 plus replaced and it is dropping the bluetooth but
no as much as the one I got a week before Christmas. I am running the latest IOS 8.1.3 The text message feature that worked with
my old Iphone 5 no longer works. I removed and cleared everything off of my Honda phone system and it just does not work.
I did recently pair up an old Iphone 5 with the latest IOS and it does work on my Honda. I think the bluetooth chips in the 6's must
be different. I am hoping Apple is able to find a software fix... since I thought I was upgrading to the latest and greatest... but it does not
seem that way.
Ok everyone this is an issue with all iphones NOT Honda/Acura!. I was using a Verizon MiFi in my car so my family can use it while traveling. Last year I had an iPhone 4S, it had the issue which Bluetooth would drop every few minutes when connected to my 2009 Acura TSX OR a Bluetooth headset. It only happened when both WiFi was on and Bluetooth at the same time. My iPhone died so I had it replaced with another 4S. This also had the exact same issue. I upgraded to an iPhone 6+ in November. This also has the exact same problem. I also use my iPhone 6+ as a Bluetooth proximity device on my work computer, so when I have the Bluetooth on and walk away from my computer, the computer would see that I am gone and automatically lock, forcing a logon when I get back. If I have my wifi on and my Bluetooth, every few minutes at random times, the computer would think I walked away because the Bluetooth connection dropped. If I leave my wifi off. It never drops and works perfectly. Same thing in my car. If I don't have my wifi on, I never have an issue with Bluetooth dropping.
I've tried everything mentioned on this site and a few others, but nothing worked for me on either the iphone6+ or the old iphone5. My iphone/s kept dropping and would take a long time to connect to my Acura and the Honda. What I noticed though is that this would happen everytime something in my network would change. Eg. Moving from 3G-4G-LTE etc, or switching cell towers (hard to prove but I know the signal strength changes at the same time as the bluetooth drops). So my conjecture is that the iphones have a problem with maintaining bluetooth connectivity while shifting networks.
To prove this, I changed my iphone settings to NOT use LTE for voice calls. I don't know about others, but I've never noticed a better quality with LTE voice calls. Lo and behold, the iphone drops my calls much less now!! And when it does, the reconnect is really quick (2 seconds vs no reconnect at all before). This isn't the ideal solution for everyone, but hopefully this tells Apple what's wrong with the software and where to focus efforts. Meanwhile, everyone can stay as loyal iphone fans (I had decided to dump the iphones just because of this!).
