I have the Honda CR-V 2012 model and i bought iPhone 6 and i also have the same issue. I am driving 70 miles to my work and it keep reconnects the Bluetooth crazy (I am using Bluetooth sync to my car for last 7+ years). I contacted Apple and they replaced the phone today, but on the way back to home from Apple my phone again reconnected (i don't have this issue my previous Android phones)
Hopefully Apple may find the solution
I have a 2013 Honda Civic and I had an iPhone 4 not updated to IOS 8. Since purchasing an iPhone6 with the latest updates I started experiencing the same issues. I have not tried the Wifi trick yet. This really frustrates me as there is not much I can do but take the phone back as this is one of the main functions I use on the phone. Is there anything we can do to get this fixed as from reading the blog posts online there is not much being done to resolve this issue.
I have an Iphone 6 plus 128 gb and a Honda 2012 CRV. I just got my iphone 6 plus replaced and it is dropping the bluetooth but
no as much as the one I got a week before Christmas. I am running the latest IOS 8.1.3 The text message feature that worked with
my old Iphone 5 no longer works. I removed and cleared everything off of my Honda phone system and it just does not work.
I did recently pair up an old Iphone 5 with the latest IOS and it does work on my Honda. I think the bluetooth chips in the 6's must
be different. I am hoping Apple is able to find a software fix... since I thought I was upgrading to the latest and greatest... but it does not
seem that way.
Ok everyone this is an issue with all iphones NOT Honda/Acura!. I was using a Verizon MiFi in my car so my family can use it while traveling. Last year I had an iPhone 4S, it had the issue which Bluetooth would drop every few minutes when connected to my 2009 Acura TSX OR a Bluetooth headset. It only happened when both WiFi was on and Bluetooth at the same time. My iPhone died so I had it replaced with another 4S. This also had the exact same issue. I upgraded to an iPhone 6+ in November. This also has the exact same problem. I also use my iPhone 6+ as a Bluetooth proximity device on my work computer, so when I have the Bluetooth on and walk away from my computer, the computer would see that I am gone and automatically lock, forcing a logon when I get back. If I have my wifi on and my Bluetooth, every few minutes at random times, the computer would think I walked away because the Bluetooth connection dropped. If I leave my wifi off. It never drops and works perfectly. Same thing in my car. If I don't have my wifi on, I never have an issue with Bluetooth dropping.
I've tried everything mentioned on this site and a few others, but nothing worked for me on either the iphone6+ or the old iphone5. My iphone/s kept dropping and would take a long time to connect to my Acura and the Honda. What I noticed though is that this would happen everytime something in my network would change. Eg. Moving from 3G-4G-LTE etc, or switching cell towers (hard to prove but I know the signal strength changes at the same time as the bluetooth drops). So my conjecture is that the iphones have a problem with maintaining bluetooth connectivity while shifting networks.
To prove this, I changed my iphone settings to NOT use LTE for voice calls. I don't know about others, but I've never noticed a better quality with LTE voice calls. Lo and behold, the iphone drops my calls much less now!! And when it does, the reconnect is really quick (2 seconds vs no reconnect at all before). This isn't the ideal solution for everyone, but hopefully this tells Apple what's wrong with the software and where to focus efforts. Meanwhile, everyone can stay as loyal iphone fans (I had decided to dump the iphones just because of this!).
IF you google "Bluetooth disconnecting in car" the first thing that comes up is an android forum complaining about an android phone dropping Bluetooth in a 2013 Honda CR-V. I'm not convinced this is iPhone specific! I am convinced that it's more likely to happen for every phone in a Honda. I have an iPhone 6 and a 2013 Honda CR-V. The bluetooth NEVER drops out when I'm playing music or podcasts but it usually drops out when I'm making a call. Over and over, it drops out for several seconds and reconnects Itself (thankfully the call is not disconnected). This does lend credence to the possibility of being cell tower related. This bluetooth problem didn't start for me until about 6 months ago (April 2015). I don't know what changed then. The iPhone 6 seemed to be fine with the CR-V for the first 6 months that I owned it and my iPhone 5 never had the problem. I look forward to iOS 9. Maybe that will fix it.
"I look forward to iOS 9. Maybe that will fix it."....it didn't. In fact, iOS9 has made the problem 10 times worse for me, as now my phone disconnects and reconnects about every 30 seconds. I can't complete a single phone call via Bluetooth in the car now! 😢
Same problem here. 2013 Honda CRV. Two different iPhone 6's on iOS 9.01 (also occurred wth iOS 8).
Adding shared experience/frustartions. 2012 CRV and iPhone 6+ = dropped bluetooth calls. I've done numerous things suggested [wipe phone, clear car bluetooth connections, reconnect, etc etc etc.]. NOTHING works. It's crazy-making. I have had horribly frustrating and embarrassing work call issues. PLUS the end result is trying to scramble to get to the phone and get on speaker, which switches back when it eventually returns, and all that is a SAFETY HAZARD. The point of bluettooth/car integration is to REDUCE RISKS not increase them. These two companies need to get their act together.
Honda Pilot 2015 same exact problem. It was intermittent with iOS 8 but with 9.1 it's constant. I can't stand it. I don't know what to do. it only happens with phone calls. Streaming music over the Bluetooth NEVER cuts out. Only phone calls. i will try turning wifi off when I'm in the car and see if that helps but Apple needs to fix this. been getting worse since iOS 8. Had no problems with iOS 7.
Brief update: I THOUGHT that turning off wifi was the ticket... HATE that i'd even need to do so let alone remember later to turn it back on.. BUT it was working and seemed to make a difference until yesterday where something caused the phone to connect/disconnect ... yet nothing was playing and I was not on a phone call but I was using Siri, which ends up going through bluetooth.
SO... i'm now skeptical but not certain that turning off wifi won't be the silver bullet. I'll continue to try and report back if it's clearly not making a difference.
Ypu using iOS 9?
Crazy this thread has been going on this long. I have a 2014 CR-V EX-L and was using an iPhone 6 running iOS 8 when I got the vehicle. I didn't have the problems until almost 6 months in. I tried re-establishing the connection, resetting the i-Mid settings, DFU restoring my phone and turning wifi off. Nothing has worked.
I purchased an iPhone 6s Plus on launch day and set up as new thinking MAYBE I wouldn't have the problem. I was wrong. Still have the issue so to recap:
Equipment:
Issues:
Remedies Tried:
Only thing left to do is set fire to my car...
My Honda dealer says there is not update or anything they can do to the i-Mid system and I've exhausted all of my options as far as resetting phones and trying other phones. I think it's definitely an issue with the Bluetooth in the car and the phone's software when the microphone is involved. It's the only thing I can think of as music playback and podcast playback work fine.
Anyone have any new insight?
Just a quick update for 'those of us feeling the pain' of this issue. I've had relatively consistent success from recurring efforts to test the "wifi on/off" scenario. And so far I've had success. I did have an instance of the phone seeming to connect/disconnect but i've since attributed that to the "Waze" app trying to send audio to bluetooth.
In any event, I wanted to post this and evangelize others trying the simple test of turning OFF wifi and seeing if that results in more success then we've had with other efforts.
I'll keep trying too.
Turning wifi off when I'm in the car seems to solve the problem. Like everyone else here I didn't have a problem until iOS 8 Something.
