I also did some experimentation today. I initiated a call with wifi off while in my driveway and didn't have a problem. I then turned wifi on and the call remained fine, though my phone would not connect to my home wifi (which it normally does in my driveway). I then on my phone switched the call to speaker phone and my phone immediately connected to my home wifi. I switched the call back to hands free and within one minute, my phone was disconnecting and reconnecting to the cars Bluetooth. I then disabled wifi and the problem ceased.

so odd!

I'm having the same problem with bluetooth cutting in and out in my 06 Lexus (maybe every 10th connection). I've read in some other groups that if you go to:

Settings > Accessibility > Call Audio Routing and it should be checked for "Automatic". Instead, check "Bluetooth Headset". The problem goes away.

I haven't tested it yet as I'm in my office but apparently, there's a problem with the "Automatic" setting and it won't "stick" on bluetooth headset (which is essentially how it connects to the cars Bluetooth). It doesn't affect incoming calls or anything else when not connected to your car but it forces the connection to stay stable when it's connecting to the car via bluetooth.

I'm on 9.2 but had the same problem with 9.1 (iPhone 6s).

No luck with WiFi Assist. Just turning off WiFi seems to do the trick.

I had tried that Call Audio Routing feature before, with no luck (although I did see a small improvement in terms of less frequent drops).

Does everyone else here have another Bluetooth device like a FitBit? Ever install any networking profiles?

Trying to figure out the trend here since it's not car or phone specific (my wife has the same phone and uses the same car--no problems for her).

I use a Fitbit and haven't had any problems with connectivity. I haven't tested everything but it seems isolated to just drops when connecting to my car.

Then again, it doesn't happen all the time. When it does, I turn off bluetooth on my phone, turn it on again and reselect my iPhone in my car and let it reconnect. Once I do that, it's fine again for several (maybe 10 or 12 times) before it starts acting up again. I haven't seen any improvement by unpairing and repairing the phone over just reselecting it.

Preliminary update – I tried turning off WiFi Assist and tested this morning for about 30 minutes. So far, Bluetooth on + WiFi on + WiFi Assist off has worked without issue but that's one test period. Since ryguy417 reports "no luck", I am hesitant to call it certain. I will continue to test WiFi and Bluetooth on with WiFi Assist off through the week, and will report back as to the success/fail rate.

I have had 100% success in retaining bluetooth connection/making hands free audio phone calls when I turn off WiFi completely. So i believe we are isolating a probable root cause.

Perhaps WiFi Assist, being a new IOS9 feature [as far as I understand it], is the culprit here.... It seems to be a significant variable between phones/OS's that have been reported to work or not work.

I also noticed something interesting. If I initiate or am on a call in the car through Bluetooth, with the engine off [key in accessory position], and restart the car, it would take a 2-4 seconds for the phone/bluetooth to reconnect to the car when WiFi was on. BUT with WiFi off, the re-connection when starting the car is almost immediate. May be related.

Since Apple released the 8.2 version of the Bluetooth software does not work properly with the team car, constantly it disconnects and will not let you continue the conversation.

I use this a lot for my work and upset a team of these features to malfunction.

I deleted the attached equipment and not fixed.

I'm disappointed.

IOS 9 has not been fixed.

Since last summer I was told that Honda is aware of the problem and they have not provided a fix yet. The mechanic assistant told me that it's a known issue that Honda needs to update to the latest Apple Bluetooth software but they have not updated yet. I have tried all of the above:

- deleted the pairing, and reset it.

- reset my iphone as new.

- reset my Honda nav back to factory settings.

- Onto my second iphone 6 now, same issue.

None of these will work, not sure if updating to the latest 2015 navigation database update from Honda will also fix this bluetooth issues. I was told by my local Honda dealer that it's a known Honda issue and to call the corporate office to complaint since they have not fixed this in over a year now. I do not have this issue with my 2014 Toyota Tacoma Navigational System, only with my 2012 Honda Civic Navigational System. Same iphone device, issues with Honda not with my Toyota.

Well, to follow up. I have had the same problem in my 2006 Lexus RX400h. I had hoped that upgrading to 9.2 would solve the problem but instead it actually made the problem worse.

After several workarounds I have FINALLY solved the problem (at least for me). I had to do the following in the *exact* order listed.

1. Turn off bluetooth on phone

2. Delete phone profile in car (ALL of them, not just your iPhone).

3. Turn off car

4. Set iphone back to defaults (e.g. WiFi on, Bluetooth on, Settings > General > Call Audio Routing set to automatic etc).

5. Select Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

6. Let the phone go into a full reset (all apps will be saved, just your passwords for various apps including AppleID will need to be reentered).

7. DO NOT rename your phone after resetting. Phone name will default back to "iPhone". Renaming the iPhone seems to contribute to pairing issues.

8. After the phone comes back up, repair the phone with the car.

9. Test

I discovered this through trial and error and found that the procedure above has to be followed in the exact order listed or it won't work. I know that

Honda owners have their own separate issues and this *may* not help but what the ****, try it anyway.

Just found this thread while trying to debug a similar problem in my Mazda 3,2014 with my iPhone6. When I dial a call out the phone bluetooth connection is immediately lost, although the phone itself is still dialing and the call does go through. If I switch the routing of the call manual to the Mazda bluetooth afterwards, it stays and the connection is solid. Similarly, if a call comes in to the car I'll get the ring tone on my car stereo but the call only goes through to the phone and I have to manually switch it back to the car stereo. The bluetooth audio is just fine and never drops my music or podcasts.

I've spent hours on the phone with Apple and in the Apple store with their genius. Naturally the phone pairs flawlessly with their bluetooth speakers, accepts calls etc. I've tried every thing they suggested, from rebooting, to turning bluetooth on and off, unpairing and repairing the car stereo, resetting network connections, resetting the phone to factory defaults and restoring from a backup. No luck.

It gets more interesting... I have a bluetooth ready hearing aid and the phone will no longer recognize the hearing aid at all.

It gets even more interesting... my wife has an identical iPhone6, purchased at the same time as mine. Hers pairs just fine with my car bluetooth phone and audio, and also my hearing aid. My phone will pair with the bluetooth in her Prius, but drops calls just like in the Mazda.

The common denominator seems to be my iPhone, but Apple denies that there's anything wrong with it. Any ideas? I just saw the suggestion to disable WiFi, which I will try at the first opportunity.
