I have been having issues in the US as well. Spoken with Apple a couple of times and it is always the same server, p04-smtp.mail.me.com. Engineering are working on the issue. All Applecare support could advise is to keep trying. I suggested they need to update the iCloud system status page to let people know some users are being impacted.

If you have a mobile device you can try and turn off wifi and use cell data. I can send this way, just not when on wifi.

Same here in California for the past 5 hours (at least) on both iPhone and desktop, and the same p04-smtp.mail.me.com outgoing server. iCloud configured properly. All was working fine until today. Account and password untouched for weeks, since Heartbleed didn't affect Apple.

The Mail app in iOS 7 plays the swoosh sound before the message is sent. I didn't catch that. So I thought my message that I wouldn't make dinner at home actually did go out 5 hours ago, only to look at my phone just now and see the error. Awesome!

From the name, I'd wager p04-smtp.mail.me.com is one of many outgoing mail servers. It's too bad they can't get them to round-robin better and/or skip certain servers if they act up—especially after 5+ hours.

I've been having the same issue since about 2pm this afternoon. I'm in Atlanta, ga. Phone support and a trip to GENUIS bar didn't resolve anything. GENUIS bar told me it was my provider, AT&T . I've yet to contact them....hoping to wake up in the morning and it will be working!

I have my iCloud email and work email on my phone, and both will not let me send emails.

I'm having the same problem. I changed my password yesterday (I Heartbleed the Internet!), but that might be a coincidence. None of my devices (iPad, MacBook, iPhone) can send emails from anywhere other than my home wifi. I have AT&T, but that doesn't explain why the MacBook and iPad can't send email on the work wifi. I get the p04 outgoing server error.

I deleted iCloud email from the phone and reinstalled it, but that didn't work. I tried to create alternate outgoing mail servers, but that isn't working (and they disappear).

I'm not sure when it started, since I was emailing just fine from home in SF this morning and noticed it wasn't working when I started emailing from my devices at work.

My workaround is to use a gmail account as my outgoing mail account for the time being.

Same problems in Orlando, FL at about 10pm Eastern. Just got off the phone w/Apple Support. Was elevated to a senior tech. He said the issue had been solved but after he did the "share your screen" thing he realized it wasn't. He took my number and called back 20 minutes later to say that they are realizing that they still have a problem. Gave me his contact info and a caseID. Told me to call back in the morning if it is still not working.

Sure wish they would just update the system status page and save an hour on the phone and a lot of unhappy customers. Nonetheless he was very knowledgeable and helpful.
