i cannot send mail today on mac ? os x -Connections to the server “p04-smtp.mail.me.com” on the default ports timed out.

Having same issue at 12:28 EST in Philadelphia. Am able to send email from iPhone, but not from Mac desktop.

Both my iphone (using AT&T data) and my laptop (using Verizon broadband) are affected. FWIW. Both are set up for iCloud.

Same here in France, both Mac and Iphone mails fails to send.

Having the same in issue in Austin TX cant send mail on all my devices...Mac pro, Mac Air, iphone, ipad etc...

Definitely not ISP related as our ISP is Eclipse and have tried on our neighbours Talk Talk service. Also fails on iPhone whilst connected via cell (rather than wireless). Vodafone and Three both show the same problem.

Reported to Apple about 9am GMT. No acknowledgment of fault, but I did manage to get it escalated beyond first line support.

Server (or services on server) appear to be down. nmap -Pn p04-smtp.mail.me.com fails and telneting to port 25 on p04-smtp times out. You can connect to p03-smtp (and many others) using this methodology, hence my conclusion that there's something badly wrong with the p04-smtp server.

Same here, in New York, since last night (Friday 11th early morning).

All my iCloud synced devices are affected (iMac, Mac Book, iPad), but noy my external HD running Snow Leopard and, thus, not iCloud synced. Oddly enough, while I was able to send mail while under Snow Leopard, I received a warning about the security certificate, asking me whether I wanted to trust it anyway.

If I go into iCloud online web, I can send mail from there, but not from my Mail app.

My wife's Mail account uses p01 instead of p04 as smtp server (I don't know how servers are assigned by default when setting up a Mail account) and she's experiencing none of these issues.

I have spent the best part of the morning chatting to Apple support. After going through all the motions and showing them this very discussion, now they are looking at it, or so they tell me.

I am sill online with an advisor.

This is proving very, VERY frustrating.

The server came up for about 5 minutes around 19:30 GMT. It was enough for some of my mail backlog to be delivered and I was hopeful that someone was working on it. However, nothing appears to have improved since that flurry of goodness a couple of hours ago. Hey Ho!

Add mine as well, Provo Utah, started noticing yesterday, 4/10. Able to send from iphone this morning but not macbook air since problem started.

I am starting to think that maybe this has something to do with the much dreaded Heartbleed Open SSL vulnerability that has companies everywhere issuing new security certificates...
