galaxy s5 not receiving messages from iphone users

Ok so sorry about the long question but I just bought a galaxy s5 to replace my iphone 4s and im having trouble getting messages from iphone users. I tried turning off imessage, turned off find my iphone, resetting the device completely, and even created a new apple id but nothing has worked in the past 6 hours. The only thing I have left is to contact apple support but I really dont want to spend $20 to talk to someone if I dont have to... Any help at this point will be apprectiated. Thanks

thanks billw3 - I followed the steps (had actually disabled my number from the imessage system before calling apple, they confirmed the number was removed). Was told it could take 48 hours to take effect. 24 hours since I called and I still don't get all the iPhone texts so hopefully the issue is corrected tomorrow

Yes, I am still having issues as well, although it seems to be correcting itself piecemeal...I don't know if it is because a few iPhone users have deliberately altered their texts to "send as sms" as opposed to the iMessage default and that setting is remaining. Another friend tried to text me this morning and kept getting "undeliverable" errors, so I have suggested she cycle her phone off and on and try again. My hope is that by doing so, the phone will reconnect with the iMessage server and see my phone number is no longer there, and thus will automatically default to a regular text message. I will keep this thread posted how that turns out.

Originally had S2 (no problems getting messages/calls from iPhone users). Upgraded to S3 still no issues. Upgraded to S4 barely a year ago and 5 months in, SIM card reader crashed. Temporarily switched to iPhone 4s while I waited for my replacement. Received "new" S4 and stopped getting texts/calls/pics from iPhone users. Called again and again to AT&T, deactivated everything possible with my Apple account/phone. Started getting texts again for a while, today I missed 5 calls that never came through to me. Also missed 3 texts from my brother that never came through. AT&T did tell me this is a VERY common issue with iPhone to Android users. I have not yet found a fix that works. Will be dropping AT&T as well as Android once the iPhone 6 comes out. This is beyond frustrating and it's pretty ****-poor that no-one can provide a solution to it.

The only solution I can find is leaving Android. It makes me sad, because I love the Android platform, look, and feel compared to Apple/iPhone, but Apple seems to know how to keep their products working consistently. Apple will be regaining me as a customer soon.

That may be...It just *****, because ever since I started using the S4, I have had nothing but issues. I was going to upgrade to S5, but have heard nothing but the same issue from Android users. I don't know if it's an issue with Android's new OS or if it's truly Apple's iMessage.

My issues with AT&T may not be fully related, however, I have received little to no assistance from anyone there. I have called 4 times regarding this issue and they have gone from helping me deactivate the Apple iPhone account, to re-registering my S4 with the network and guaranteed the fix. That never happend. Hopefully, Apple and/or Android can figure out a fix for this because it seems like everyone is trying everything but nothing seems to provide a definite fix.

I would LOVE to stick with Android's Galaxy line, but more and more I'm afraid to jump up to the S5. 😟

That is frustrating!

I had the original moto droid for almost 2 years and then decided to switch to iphone, had my iphone 4 for 3 years and liked it a lot, but wanted to switch back for the better google compatability as well as bigger screen (I have the s5). Besides the text message bug I haven't had any issues, hopefully that continues

I almost debated on going back to the S3, but why go backwards? That's great to hear about the S5, though. A little more comforting. I do still plan to wait until the iPhone 6 drops and see how that goes, before I make any final decision.

I have my iPhone 4s if I NEED to use it, I just don't want the messaging to get worse...

I believe I have found a solution.

Requirements: iPhone with iMessage(IOS 5 and up)

Your SIM cards need to fit the iPhone(use a sim card adapter if you have to)

Note: (Turn iMessage off/on by going to setting, then scroll down to messages, iMessege should be the first option.)

What you need to do is enter your SIM into the iPhone. Turn iMessage on and send messages to someone with a iPhone. Text the person for about 5 minutes to be safe (have them send text back as well). Then turn iMessage off and send that person more text. It should then send as regular text. After this you can put your sim card back into your new phone and it should work fine! Worked for me!!!

I have literally done everything mentioned above...called AT&T, the "stop" message twice. Taken the SIM card out of the phone and had the old phone, turned off iMessage and everything. People can get my messages, they just cannot reply to me. I have over 1300 contacts. i have no idea who has an iPhone except close friends and kids. This is an epic screw up. If anyone finds a solution, please post it! I am frantic since I am a consultant and need my cell phone to do my job.

Thanks

Capeshmitty,

Thanks for the information. I too have tried all there is to be tried, outside the sim card switch. I was going to try it out tonight and see. I can post results after.

I have about 150 contacts and can't even guess (outside my family) who has an iPhone. It is a huge inconvenience and a major pain.

I'll post results tonight.
