galaxy s5 not receiving messages from iphone users

Ok so sorry about the long question but I just bought a galaxy s5 to replace my iphone 4s and im having trouble getting messages from iphone users. I tried turning off imessage, turned off find my iphone, resetting the device completely, and even created a new apple id but nothing has worked in the past 6 hours. The only thing I have left is to contact apple support but I really dont want to spend $20 to talk to someone if I dont have to... Any help at this point will be apprectiated. Thanks

Unfortunately, your friends will need to turn off their iMessage service in order for you to receive texts on the galaxy. At least that is the easiest way to go and then you should end up receiving any of the texts that they send on a galaxy from the iPhone.

Summary: Simply have friends turn off the imessage feature in their message settings. I hope that helps out...

I have an iPhone 4S and I could read texts coming from my son's mom with iMessage on but she was not getting my messages to her Samsung phone. Once I turned off imessage and we did some tests, she could now receive my messages. She did the whole thing of calling Verizon and they referred her to Apple which she did. From what Verizon told me, is that Apple knows about this issue and they are not doing anything about it. It ***** I have to turn iMessage off because I like seeing when other iPhone users are texting me back with the chat bubble on the screen but that will not show up when you turn off iMessage.

I got this to work for me (first night after getting the s5):

> First, turned off imessages in my iPhone settings (settings > messages)

> Signed out of icloud on my iPhone (settings > icloud > sign out)

> Signed out of icloud on my computer (preferences > icloud)

> Signed out of messages on my computer (messages > preferences > accounts)

> Went online to https://appleid.apple.com/account/home and changed my password (and removed my number from phone numbers)

Annnnd....lastly, the most important piece that finally worked—I restarted my iPhone.

Hope that helps...that's why I'm taking the time to share.

I had the same problem. Turn off iMessages on your old iPhone. Those who are using iPhones need to go to Settings, then Messages, and then turn on SMS. They then need to power down the phone and start it up again. If you had to turn off iMessages, you will have to power down the Galaxy and turn it back on. You will then receive texts from others who have iPhones. I just did it, so I know it works. 🙂 Hope that helps. SMS is so any texts that are sent from iPhones go to people who do not have iPhones.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! After reading this message, I was on and off the phone with Apple support (and paid nothing) in about 2 minutes. Problem fixed!! May take a few hours to start receiving messages. The guy I talked to knew exactly what to do and didn't try to convince me to switch to one of their products which I so appreciated. Thanks for the detailed message! #makingmylifealittleeasier
