in maps there is a huge blue circle around my "current location" and I would like to get rid of it, and I did not do a "pin drop" either?

The way to remove the blue circle is to open Security and Privacy in System Preferences. Location Services: click unlock at bottom of window and then deselect Maps. The blue circle goes away.

The blue circle was really bugging me too and Mariowynjones method does work.

To keep the location, you can then put a dropped pin there and add it to favo(u)rites.

We live in a place where just the postcode is inadequate and for people who may not have apple devices and you want to send a route, use maps, use screen shot and edit that as .jpg to send anywhere

I have to chime in here. The art of complaints goes hand in hand with fixing something. I'm sure Apple looks at these forums for problems to fix as well as as place for users to help each other. The Maps 3D "Blue Circle" issue is an example of big companies fixing something...while a new protocol says "If you're fixing things they have to conform to "this and that" and "don't forget the underlined". As much as I like iOS, the "user friendliness" that Apple has implemented with recent updates to OSX has reduced functionality to such a great extent that I and other people in the creative media industries have dropped Apple's creative applications for the most part.
