Diverging stacked bar chart in Numbers?

Am looking for instructions on how to create a diverging stacked bar chart in Numbers. I can create this type of chart in Excel, but I want to provide the instructions to someone else who uses Numbers. For an example, see figure 3 on this page: http://realnumeracy.wordpress.com/2013/12/11/diverging-stacked-bar-charts/ Thank you in advance!

Create a table where the first row is a header and the first column is a header.

To make a header select the row(or column) then use the contextual menu to convert to a header:

similar procedure for a row.

Enter the data for your chart.

select columns B and C by clicking the column header for column B, then shift-click the column C.

Now select the stacked, horizontal bar chart from the charts menu:

Thank you again to Wayne, SGIII and Jerrold. You've been very helpful and I think I have enough direction to help my colleague.

My original question was about using the diverging stacked bar chart for Likert Scale data (Figure 3 in the original linked blog post). Here is a link to a paper that discusses the advantages of this method vs. others that were suggested, such as grouped bar charts and area charts:

Lis7,

I thought I made it clear that I was expressing my opinion on chart types and not citing any experts or studies, if not, I apologize.

The article, by Robbins, et. al., makes some good points, but is a little overly dramatic, with the stop sign graphics and with making the charts they don't like in gray scale and the ones they recommend in color.

Note that they aren't bothered by negative values on the horizontal axis:

Charts like the one above are so specialized that you will never find them in a basic app like Numbers, but the great thing about Numbers is that you can fake it without much trouble. If it's for publication, an hour or so spent doctoring a standard chart is time well spent.
