apple tv does not access iTunes - 4/17/2014

You won't hear from them here. Almost all of us are users. You will need to contact them by some other means.

I had this issue tonight myself, were my apple tv 3rd gen wouldnt connect to my itunes library running on my laptop. Also my idevices wouldnt home share from the same library.

To resolve this i had to go into the properties of the network interface which was connected to my network and uncheck "IPV6"

Once this was done, all was operating as normal, apple tv was sharing the itunes library and idevices were sharing the itunes library too.

Stops it trying to connect to the server without having to turn off my modem.

I am yet another in the growing list whose ATV is having issues and wasted hours trying to work out what the problem was - with no I.T knowledge. Best thing I did was google it and found this discussion which I've been monitoring for a few days now. No doubt many of us also have iPhones, iPads etc and this silence from Apple does not sit well.

I'm ex IT and so understand something of what the problem might be, but the non response so far engenders distrust.

Just another ATV user who is having the same issues. I didn't find the thread until today so I am late to the party but glad to find out that this is a common issue. While I can live without iTunes store access via my ATV, the poor streaming of my personal content is very annoying. Like most everyone else, I will be in a holding pattern until someone much more computer smart than I can come up with a solution. Hope it is soon!

Well it's in the news as of a few hours ago. Apple can't avoid it now.

Well, my Roku is working fine with Amazon VOD. Guess who just got my money. Apple SAY SOMETHING!!! ( I know there will be no response in the forum, but a public acknowledgement is required at this point).

Apple doesn't post on these discussions and many times it seems they don't read.... 12K comments and growing.

Maybe they've made the business decision to no longer care about the 1st Gen. That would be too bad as I've got Netflix and Amazon embedded in my TV....

It seems to me, given the newer AppleTVs low price, Apple's business model is renting and selling content. I'm sure it's pretty cheap for Apple to throw some software engineering at putting out a fix. So?!!!

I can't get any songs I've purchased to play on my 3rd gen model. I also can't get anything to play through iTunes Radio. It just sits there and spins like its loading, but nothing happens. I know most people are having trouble with 1st gen, but is anyone having or heard of 3rd gen problems?
