I'm experiencing this problem as well with a 1st gen Atv. It is accessing the Internet, but won't access movies, music or tv.

Hello World,

Where is the moderator when we need one? I am not a big forum user but type this in the hope that we can get a grip on this folks.

There is a problem with ATV1, ATV2 and it would appear ATV3. Period.

Stop telling the world your problems, we all appear to be heartbroken that our beloved ATV is not working, sorry folks this is a first world problem. Like joshuarayer says on page 6. (Apologies if someone else said it first,) "Click on I have this question too, link beside the giant REPLY on the first post that started this thread," then maybe Apple may do something to hurry up/admit to problems by publishing on web pages or similar. 14627 views inside 4 days tells me there is a problem somewhere. And we all know there is.

I cannot see that this is Apple closing down a service that we all rely on.

Who knows, maybe the folks at Apple that can publish to the web are on Easter holidays.

Time to turn off the ATV and go and find something else to do, whatever that was before we bought ATV's. Keeping an eye on the forum for an update of when everything is back to normal.

I think everybody needs to take a reality check. Can you point to any other computing technology in your house that is still in active use and predates 2007?

A PC purchased in 2006 can run at least Windows Vista, Windows 7/8 and would work just fine to this day, assuming the hardware wasn't faulty, which could potentially be repaired.

I still have a PC running XP which can not only run iTunes, but can also be used to download rented movies here in Australia. Wasn't XP released some 13 years ago? My ATV is more compact, easier to use and supports HDMI, which makes it easier, but it's because of the iTunes capabilities I purchased mine. Even if I have to go back to XP it won't cost me a thing.

I to am having the same problem with all 3 of my ATV1 devices.

Location: Germany

Computer: iMac 24" C2D 2.66

OS: OS X 10.7.5

iTunes: 11.1.5

ATV1 Firmware: (2 devices) 3.0.2 (Firecore), (1 device) Factory Restored to 2.3.1 after problem started

I have implemented the suggested Parental Controls settings change on one of the firmware 3.0.2 devices which has allowed me to watch my stored content without the stuttering playback.

I was having the same problem on the device third ATV1 before I performed the factory restore. After the factory restore the device playback problem disappeared. However I received a notification on the TV display there was a software update for my device so I downloaded and installed the update bringing the firmware back up to 3.0.2. As soon as the ATV restarted after the update the playback problems returned. I immediately performed a factory restore again back to firmware 2.3.1 and the playback problems ceased. Since firmware 2.3.1 does not give the option to make purchases from the ATV1 itself and the Parental Controls change corrects the playback problem on ATV1 devices with firmware 3.0.2, this would seem to support the theory that the problem is caused by some server-side connection issue and not a problem with the ATV1 hardware or the local network / internet connection.

While I agree clicking on the "I have the same question" link can be helpful in showing the number of users having the problem, the link does not provide a means to report the specifics circumstances or global reach of the problem. Perhaps the specific information provided by the users (Location, OSX and iTunes version, Firmware, etc) will be helpful in identifying the cause of the problem and producing a solution in a more timely manner.

Have the same problem! Hope Apple will fix it and not let us hang!

If they don't I will not buy anything else from iTunes again! My library is quite extencive so if they wont me to purchase more movies and TV shows, they had better fix it........

Also an upgrade to the software to properly support suptitles is in order!

Lets see what happens................
