For the past week I've been getting lots of Double Underline Green hyperlinks within text when I browse in Safari. When I rollover the text, ads pop up. How can I remove this?
MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.5), Safari 6.1.3
Go to Finder, click on your Hard drive, then Library, then look for two folders named LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons, delete any file that contains "vsearch" on its name.
I've had this for 3 weeks, finally solved it!
Downloaded VirusBarrier app, and using the trial version it found the virus and let me delete all the files! So easy, so happy.
GUYS!!! I got it - it only took three hours..Go in your library (press go in the finder and press command- I learned that today too..)
then in library find the APPLICATION SUPPORT folder - there is a file called Spigot
Trash it, empty the trash, clear all your cookies etc. Restart!
BOOM! 😀
EDIT:gabrielachamartin mentioned these steps already, sorry I hadn't noticed.
Found in another thread. These exact instructions worked for me.
Open Finder
On the top toolbar click GO
Click Computer from the drop-down list
Choose the drive your Mac operates from
Go to the Library folder
Go in the folder Application Support and delete anything to do with VSearch
Go back to your Library folder, and then into LaunchAgents folder, delete anything to do with VSearch
Do the same steps for the folder LaunchDaemons, delete all files to do with VSearch
Restart safari
Also, follow Ulysses' directions as well as stated above.
