My appleTV has stopped streaming my photos, everything else works.

My Apple TV has stopped loading my pictures. Music and movies work fine. Was working for 2 months and then no more. Starts to load and then freezes and goes to the Apple pictures.

I'm assuming this is not the way it worked before you did the update. Mine worked pretty much flawlessly. I could randomly play a slideshow from about 16000 photos. These were streamed from an iMac wirelessly. I could also play music from the same hard drive. Not any more. Is there a way to clear the actual atv cache?

No it worked perfectly! I have no idea why i can get my photos now??!! Like I said, I have to stand there for minutes until it is ready for the slide show and if I miss that opportunity to push play I have to start all over. <My family is very entertained watching me react to this stupid ATV!! I had my computer guy here for hours trying everything from new cords to a new router system and he couldn't make it work and he installed it the first time so he, also, knows it is not the same. I wrote to the Apple Co. in Cupertino and heard ZERO from them!!

It ***** that you can't get it to work at all!!

I can stream an event that has under 1000 photos. I used to be able to stream the whole library of about 16,000 photos. This represents about 11 years of trips and family events coming on the screen randomly. It was a great way to share and remember. Maybe someone will either fix this or the feature will be refreshed in the next model.

It seems I may have solved my problem. In reading the AirPort Extreme manual it says to set up a separate network (5ghz) for newer computers and atv so that this is running along with the 2.4 ghz. Sounds complicated but it's just checking off a box in the Airport settings. You also have to change the setting on the atv for the 5ghz network. It takes longer for my pictures to fill in and they really don't fill in, just the gray place holder appears. In the past, I had to go up and click on slideshow. Now, I just wait for the ghost images to fill in and press the play button on the remote and my whole library of 16,000 pictures stream randomly as I have them set to do. Why couldn't one of the moderators with tons of points at least explored this issue further and offered some avenues to explore rather than being so un imaginative and condescending to be satisfied with themselves by suggesting a non solution like: unplug your atv, take it to the Genius Bar, do a refresh, get a mini USB cable and sync it with iTunes. How about delving into the problem!

Well, I'll be darned. I must admit I approached your solution with misgivings for two reasons: 1) After my experiences with my two ATVs, I figured there was nothing to be done but to wait for the next update, and 2) I'm obviously getting more cynical in my old age... 😉

Anyway, I did as you described with my AirPort Extreme, and had the same results (I have about 14,000 photos). Thank you so much for finding this solution (and I agree with the point made at the end of your post!).

I guess it isn't still the optimal solution (after all, everything worked fine with the router I had before I got the Extreme, so I don't know what I'd do if I had the old router)--plus it means I can still whine about the update causing the problem in the first place. Nevertheless, the slideshow DOES work now; once again, thank you for your efforts. Cheers!
