iOS 7.1.1 Signal loss

I have just installed iOS 7.1.1 and since then have had a very weak (or no) cell signal. My wife's iPhone 4S (without update) has 3/5 bar coverage in the same room on the same network.

I have compared data and network settings and are all ok. I have rebooted my phone etc but still have this weak or lost signal.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I thought I was the only one with this issue. I live in Houston, TX and after the latest update my signal has been on and off...and every morning I wake up to the phone being in "Searching..." mode. My girlfriend has yet to update to 7.1.1 and I told her not to because her iPhone is still working great as usual (and how mine used to work). I've reset my network settings, toggled the LTE/Cellular switch on and off, and did a complete reset on the phone (not through iTunes) and still no fix. I sure hope Apple fixes this issue, because honestly if this keeps up and goes too long I won't have a problem swapping back to my old HTC One to avoid having this connectivity issue.

Apple, please look into this as soon as you can...

if you change your signal circles to actual numbers (key in *3001#12345#*, to get out, just press the home button), you'll find that there is a drop of about 20 by upgrading 7.1 to 7.1.1, or should I say downgrading for all iphone 4s users. So your phone is working much harder to get the same signal strength as before, and some of us will just drop calls.

Signal strength on mobile phones are roughly -113 dBm (weak) to -51 dBm (strong), at -80 (considered good signal strenth) and the signal circles will show full strength (5 filled circles).

Mine used to be at -69 dBm on 7.1, now after "upgrading" to 7.1.1 is showing -89 (much weaker), and my batteries are draining much faster. I don't think is a network problem, coz my friend never upgraded and still showing -69!

It will be unlikely that Apple will consider fixing this, unless they value their loyal customers as much as they used to, my guess is the program is now geared to favour 4G instead of 3G.

I also am having the same issue on my wife's phone. We live like right next to an antenna so we get 5 bars all the time. Drops from 5 bars to 1....to searching, then back a minute or two later. Drops calls, missed call voicemails, the works. Only change is upgrading to 7.1.1, on AT&T. Took it to the AT&T store and they swapped the SIM card, but that's pretty much all they can do. This is pretty much making the phone un-usable. Going to try to revert back to a backup without 7.1.1 in it.

OK, so I have an update. I wasn't able to restore my wife's phone to 7.1, so we went to the genius bar. After demonstrating the problem the rep replaced the phone. However...the phone that we received was on version 7.1, not 7.1.1.

I can verify that after receiving a new iPhone 5 on AT&T, that is running on version 7.1 the issue is not happening anymore. Unfortuantely I can't tell you whether or not it's happening due to the new hardware of iOS version, and I'm not willing to upgrade to start all this shenangins all over again, especially seeing other posts where folks have already done that on different model phones. Good luck guys. My suggestion is to genius bar it.

I should have read forums sooner. I started having this problem on my 5s after upgrading to 7.1.1. Went to Verizon and got a new Sim card. NO change. Went to Apple store and got a new phone. It worked for about a week then started loosing signal again. Went back to Apple Store and was told to reset phone to new and restore Apps from itunes. Still had lose of signal. Went back to Verizon and got a new SIm card. NO change. Went back to Apple store, they first suggested a third Sim card but gave me a second new phone. it is working fine now on 7.1, it was just about to upgrade to 7.1.1 but stopped it.

Wow, I had an iPhone 5s running 7.1.1 I was with 02 for about 10days, signal dropping and sometimes no service, I left in cool off as I thought that the problem was them, changed to ee new handset but 5s again on 7.1.1 and same problem. I'm guessing that this is an apple handset 7.1.1 problem. Oh well, I was thinking of getting rid of apple, mainly as I don't like the camera, but I decided to stay for consistency. What a numpty! Should've jumped.
