iPhone detected by iTunes but not Windows?

Earlier I was able to see my iPhone in My Computer (Windows 8) and browse the photos on it. However, since unplugging it and reconnecting the device the iPhone no longer pops up in My Computer, despite iTunes seeing and syncing with the phone just fine.

I've run through all the steps in this support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538

But still have the problem. I've powercycled the phone and my PC several times, made sure Apple Mobile Device Support is installed, stopped and restarted the AMDS, verified that the USB driver is there, verified both the phone's software and my version of iTunes are the most recent (and powercycled each after each update) but have had no luck getting the phone to appear in My Computer. Any help?

iPhone 5c, iOS 7.1.1

I found this before, see if this helps.

Found these steps posted elsewhere by another...

  1. 1. Go to Windows Control Panel.
  2. 2. Go to Hardware and Sound; Devices and Printers; Unspecified (look for Apple Mobile Device USB Driver)
  3. 3. Right-click, then select properties on the menu list.
  4. 4. Select the "Hardware" tab at the top. When the properties dialog box opens, once more select properties on the lower right hand button.
  5. 5. Under the "Driver" tab menu, the update driver button will be grey and unselectable here. So you need to select and click "Change Settings" button located near the lower left corner.
  6. 6. Now you can click the "Driver" tab menu near the top, so you can see the "Update Driver" button.
  7. 7. Select "Update Driver".
  8. 8. Select and click "Browse my computer for driver software".
  9. 9. For Windows 8.1 64 bit, it should be located in the folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
  10. 10. Click Next, and let the driver re-install.
