iOS 7.1.1 New Update Problems!

I have just updated my iPhone 5s and iPad 4. My iPad is working fine but my iPhone isn't. It just comes up with a picture that shows that I should connect it to iTunes on my laptop. I have done that and now it is telling me to reset and restore my iPhone before I can use it on iTunes. iTunes is updating the software onto my iPhone via my laptop but it is taking hours. I wouldn't recomend anyone to update to this new software because is seems to work for some people but not others.

Nothing is working and I don't know what to do!

Is anyone else having the same problem?

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Etete, I'm not sure what your WiFi problem is exactly, but here's what hapenned to me: When I updated to whatever was before 7.1 (presumably 7), I'd sometimes open my iPad and it wouldn't show a WiFi signal, even though it should have been connected. Since I have a guest network I can connect to (which actually doesn't even work, lthough there's an icon for it), if I click on the 2nd one in WiFi settings, then click back to my regular one, it usually connects. Every now & then it won't connect, so I restart the iPad & then it works.

I am also having Wifi issues after the last ios update 7.1.1 Some ppl on the post blames routers, but I can confirm that it is not due to our routers for I have 3 other devices inhouse that are all able to connect to my wifi. Before I performed the ios update my iPhone 4S had no issues connecting to my wifi. I can not even slide the bar to activate my wifi. I did perform all resets available to me, but it still didnt fix the issue.

Can we please have a patch to fix this issue Apple....

I am sure many people have looked at the above mentioned link... The problem does not lie there. The issue is related to the iOS update 7.1.1. The firmware is void of WIFI functionality.

This is not a router issue. Thus far Apple have chosen to remain silent regarding the problem, meaning they have no solution for the problem.

The sooner they can release a patch, the sooner we can move forward and use our devices as intended.

and I'm positive many have not looked at that link (which is why i posted it).

Since wifi works perfectly fine on millions of other devices with iOS 7.1.1, the firmware is very obviously not "void of wifi functionality".

Yes, there does seenm to be an issue though (since this thread exists).

Have you restored (not reset) your device as new to see if it works?

I performed all resets down to factory settings, reinstalled iTunes etc. To propperly test any firmware/software it has to go through a tougher alpha/beta testing to confirm no bugs are present. In this case there is an issue regarding the firmware, otherwize we wouldnt be having this issue. Do note this issue is present worldwide and thus far Apple have not given any comments.

They only fix I have come across is the hair dryer overheating of device, but this is one fix that will not perform on my device and I will not recommend anyone to try this if they come across the suggestion on other forums. It will most probably cause damage to your device.

well my wifi is fine i just cant hold a conversation with anyone ... every other word is broken the signal strength is above three bars and i have three G started after the **** update! anyone else having network issues? i don't know if to blame EE or Apple! i have done network reset and rest all my other settings on the handset. After a few minutes occasionally it sorts itself out! so annoyed!!

In my opinion, this matter won't be "resolved" until Apple puts up an update that people can download without having to do a complete restore of their devices. People can offer all the solutions they want and that's good and helpful, but if this is software is anywhere NEAR the quality Apple claims it is, we shouldn't be in this predicament in the first place.

Thank you, Apple, for taking hours of our lives picking up the pieces you dropped. Thank you so much.

i had the same problem on my iphone 5s, it has now factory reset and i have lost everything on my phone, i didnt realise it would make me plug into itunes and reset the phone, and i hadnt backed up anything! once you click update you cant go back and change it, i turned off my phone whilst it said 'plug into itunes' but it kept coming back. i have now lost everything. make sure you back up your phone before doing this update!!!

My ipad 2 ( wi-fi & cellular) was working just fine, until I updated to 7.1.1! First a screen showed up to connect to iTunes, I agreed to Restore, but now get a message Replacement Needed! I even took it to Apple Store, but they could not fix it, that I have to buy a new ipad!! I had this ipad for just over 2 years, plus the fact that the crush is caused by the new update recommended by Apple! It seems like there is a number of people with this problem, any solutions? This is very disappointing, I always had Apple products in high esteem... 😟
