Time for everyone to check their batteries again (I do not believe mine applies with HQ4527 =/...oh well). Its not on the apple website yet, but it should be soon.
I love Apple because of their support, but this is not cutting it. The first rep I got was very rude and probably tired because of the flood of calls they're getting and, right away, a mention of the battery exchange program he immediately put me in the queue for the Portables line. Got disconnected with a busy signal. Called again, got sent to the Portables, disconnected. I said then I'd try once more and I got connected to a helpful rep who tried to submit it through the website that I was originally submitting it to no avail. She then tried pushing me into the Portables queue again. She was very nice in handling me and she stayed on the line to see if I got into the queue, which I didn't. She explained to call early tomorrow because its usually better then.
So, 45 minutes, wasted tonight. Oh well, I hope I can get this fixed soon.
Indeed I did, and mine does not qualify according to the page as well, though I've read on Digg that Apple's replacement site is screwed up at the moment (also they mentioned technical difficulties when I called Applecare).
Really makes me excited that I spent a grand on a laptop and however much on Applecare, and I've had to replace a keyboard, two batteries, a hard drive, and a power adapter.
To at least get ONE of the two batteries for my laptop on the list for replacement, I went ahead and submitted the one battery that the page was willing to recognize, in the hope that Apple would eventually fix they page so it would properly validate my other battery.
Now Apple finally has the page fixed so that the other battery is recognized, but the page is refusing to allow replacement for that battery because the iBook's S/N already has one recall battery logged against it.
Sorry, Apple, your battery is bad and subject to recall even if I already got you to agree to replace the other battery. PLEASE get your act together, eh? No excuse for how badly you are running "Day One" of the recall. 😟
(...and of course support has gone home for the night - not that I was ever able to reach them during the day, anyway.
sigh )
It's obvious that the form is screwed up still.
Unless you are a masochist, I wouldn't call Apple for a couple weeks on this one. Phones are jammed.
Would be nice, if when they fixed the form to properly access the bad battery serial database, that they made some mention of it on the form ASAP.
This will help us all, and save them a lot of support calls.
Same problem here. I keep getting the message that both my computer and battery are ineligible. I feel for those call center folks. They're probably curled up in the fetal position by now, having absolutely no control over this situation.
Think I'll sit tight for a few days and see if the web form starts to work. I'm sure they're keeping an eye on the forum. Hopefully, they'll fix whatever's broken in the next few days.
Sit tight all, breathe deeply, and hang in there. We certainly don't appear to be alone in our misery!
Same thing here. I waited for an hour before getting the Apple rep on the phone. He told me that the problem with the serial number would be fixed later today but I just tried at midnight and the problem still exists. The program does still not recognize my battery's serial number. Hope it gets fixed soon.
I tried my battery 12 digits serial number starting with 6c545.. and surprisingly the website didn't recognize it. I phoned Apple and they told me to keep on trying, because only via the website would be the exchange of the battery free of charge. That wonderful information cost me 5 Euros and a number of nerve cells as I had to wait several minutes listening to awkward music without any hints on the average waiting time. At least they allowed me to file a complain 😉
