Push isn't working for my email on iPhone and iPad for aol carrier
I'm also experiencing this problem just today. I have an iPhone 5s. It's not our operating system 7.1.1 because everything was fine for the past 3 weeks. Nothing changed with 7.1.1. Coincidentally this same problem occurred the first week in May. Has anyone asked AOL tech support whether they are on some sort of service schedule on their servers the first week of the month? Try setting your AOL mail account to fetch every 15 min. This way at least you will receive notifications that you have mail as an interim solution until this AOL problem is resolved.
I am having the same issue with AOL mail on my iPad. It is exactly what happened last month. We all thought it was an Apple problem but it was AOL all along. It is extremely frustrating! No mail being pushed by AOL. What is their problem?
I emailed AOL mail support and they just got back to me. Here is an attempt at a solution. I have NOT had a chance to check to see if it works, but I figure I would post anyways to see if it would help any of you guys.

Hi there,
I am sorry for this inconvenience, nevertheless I am here to help you out and let us see what can be done to help fix the issue.
Reconfiguring fixes most common issues experienced on AOL Mail using third party email applications. Please follow the steps listed to resolve this issue:
How to delete my AOL account on the email application?
1. Go to Settings.
2. Tap on Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
3. Under Accounts, tap on AOL.
4. Tap on Delete Account.
How to manually set up my AOL Mail?
1. Press to select "Settings" from your SpringBoard.
2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
3. Select "Add Account" from the "Mail" menu.
4. Select "Other".
5. Select "IMAP". Enter your name in the "Name" field, your full email address (xxx@aol.com) in the "Address" field and a description for the account in the "Description" field.
6. Scroll down and input the settings for your Incoming Mail Server. Enter "imap.aol.com" in the "Host Name" field. Enter your full email address in the "xxx@aol.com" field and your password in the "Password" field.
7. Scroll down and input the settings for the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP). Enter "smtp.aol.com" in the "Host Name" field. Enter your full email address in the "xxx@aol.com" field and your password in the "Password" field. Click "Finish". Press the "Save" button in the top right hand side of the screen.
8. Mail will then check your mail settings. It will verify your settings and add the email account. Now when you press Mail it will take you to your mail account.
Please tell us if this solution has worked for you. If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Look, it is AOL's problem. This solution isn't the answer to the problem, no more so than last month's issues were an iOS update problem. I contacted AOL through feedback tonight. The rep promised to pass on my concern. I suggest everyone who is having the problem should do the same, and be sure to state flatly that this is a problem last month that was resolved by AOL. Don't give customer service reps a chance to suggest any "solutions."
My guess is that AOL has made some software changes in response to the recent hacking, and the IT guys are still trying to work out the bugs.
Fetch appears to be working for me today. Is everyone else seeing (or hearing) their notifications in a normal fashion again?

Fetch or Push?
Yes, AOL started pushing messages a short time ago. I can again hear when a new message arrives on my iPad.
Is anyone else having problems again today with Aol Mail on iPhone and iPad push?
I just got an email at 4:09 p.m. the way it's suppose to work, but there may have been a problem earlier in the day. I say that because five emails did come through at once when I opened the mail app at about 3:30 p.m.
AOL is not pushing email to my iPad again. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING! Anyone else having this issue again?
It seems to be working intermittently. In the morning ii have to fetch, in the afternoon and evening it pushes. It's been that way for at least 3 days. Very frustrating.
Yes, still having problems as of this morning on iPhone and iPad. My husband is having the same problem on his iiPad with AOL. This is extremely frustrating. It's been happening more frequently now.
I'm having this problem too
As of today is anyone still having problems on receiving notifications on push for AOL Mail on their iPhone and iPad?
Yes, still having the issue of AOL not pushing messages to my iPad. Every few hours it will push but then it stops again. AOL will not help those of us who do not pay a fee to use their service. It worked well for years. What is the problem now?
