Oddly...my iPad Air 2 has stopped asking for the password since I posted to this thread on Oct 28
It was testing you.
You passed!
My iPad air 2 did it again to me last night, while my iPhone 6 plus did not. Both are running iOS 9.1. Both were used in a different time zone earlier in the day and the previous night, which is the only possible characteristic I've seen under repeat episodes of this issue. During time in the other time zone, the iPad air has been connected to a hotel's wifi, so has the iPhone. But the iPhone goes back onto LTE data prior to crossing time zone again. When arriving in my home time zone, my iPhone was still using LTE data prior to turning on its wifi at home. The iPad air's first network connection again was wifi at home. So is there any commonality to these activities with anyone else experiencing the problem?
I've recently started having this same problem and I don't work outside my home. I have no connection to any company and have set all settings myself. I can't pinpoint when this problem started occurring; it could well be since the ios9 update, as it's a recently-occurring problem. I'm always logging into my iPhone 6 using my Touch ID. The longest I go without logging in is usually overnight, 7-8 hours at most. Every few days I'll wake up to the message that I must enter my password because it's been longer than 48 hours since I've logged on...NOT! I thought maybe my phone was having clock issues, but given the other posts here, now I'm guessing it's a new bug...great!
I Have the same problem, but for me this start before update my iPhone 6s to iOS 9.1 but now its happening more.
This is happening to me too. I have a 5s which I didn't update until 9.02 and a iPad Air which I updated from 9.0.
SInce the 9.1 it hasn't happened until 7/11 but this time it had also put my phone on call forwarding as well, not very good for a medic on call. Thank goodness I still have landline too. I have noticed the settings is open in the mornings once a week though when I check my phone and pad and it definitely was closed when I went to bed. Perhaps it's linked
OOkay guys. Do a soft reset and if that doesn't fix the issue call AppleCare. It did work for me.
I've done several soft resets over the course of time this has been happening; they've not made a difference. Assuming Apple hasn't already been notified, I think they should definitely be alerted. Given that many people are having the problem, it's pretty likely this is a bug. Don't be surprised if the 48-hour message shows up again, even though you haven't seen it since your soft reset.
I guess I'm lucky as the soft reset has worked so far. As I've already spoken at great length to AppleCare I could use my current case number to reopen my case. But I'm optimistic that it will never happen again To me.
INcase it does i have AppleCare on speed dial!!
I look forward to my next software update.
Fingers crossed the soft reset permanently ended your problem. I've found the message to be very sporadic. Weeks go by with no problem, then suddenly the message appears again. I, too, will look forward to the next iOS update. Hopefully AppLe will address this glitch.
WWhen I spoke with AppleCare they told me they had an open ticket on the issue. They know they have a bug. So far so good!!!🙂
Here's how to alert them: http://apple.com/feedback
Great to know Apple's aware of the problem. Now all we need is the fix. I'm relieved it wasn't something related to date & time in only my phone. Thanks for reporting it!
I've been having the same issue on my iPad Air 2 where it tells me me to enter my password because 48 hrs have passed by since last using the iPad and that has not been the case because I use my iPad every day multiple times.
this has happened to me as well after it says it says 48 hrs has passed even though it didn't, I go to use the keyboard and it's frozen I slide out and slide back in and keyboard is working again
TThanks Lawrence I gave Apple feedback.
