someone else receives my facetime calls

Hi,

Since last saturday (3rd May 2014), I see that somelse is making and receiving my facetime calls. The first time, I saw on the phone of my girl friend that she was receiving a Facetime call from my account AppleID. This call was not coming my own phone. Both these phones (the one of my girl friend and mine) were one next to the other when we received this call.

Than we did some tests. When she called me on Facetime, sometime another person has responded (seems to be a little boy).

It seems both our phone received the call (mine and the one of the little boy) and the first who respond take the call, the other don't.

I don't know if my text on iMessage are concerned. No proof of that for the moment, but I have dought.

This little seems to be French, like me. And so I have a theory but I'm not sure of that. I think this little boy has got my previous phone number. Even if this is the cause, I don't know how to resolve it.

Please, could someone help me to recovery the property and the use of my Apple ID on Facetime ?

Thanks.

Twice I have attempted to FaceTime my mother by selecting her under the contacts in the FaceTime app, and both times a stranger answered (same man both times). At first I thought someone must have answered her phone, but she told me she never received a call from me. Very strange! It seems to happen when I attempt to contact her via her iPhone number. I don't think it happens when I use her email or when she uses her Macbook.

We figured it out!!! and had nothing to do with her iCloud ID.

Turns out I once again tried to call her thru FaceTime, this time it was immediately blocked - the other person declined the call and when this happens you have 2 options, to try again or to send a message. I selected to send a message to call me back.

My wife called me on FaceTime saying it only rung once, but she never got my text. As I'm talking to her, I get a text message saying "Who this" - I let my wife know and we know we are dealing with this problem again.

I reviewed the text message, which shows as coming from her, but then I click on her 'Details', which shows me her info, map location, etc. I then click on the upside down exclamation icon to show me her phone numbers, etc.. and the number that is highlighted is her old 'work' number, not her current number.

See, she used to work for T-Mobile and they had given her a Blackberry and I kept this number saved.

After removing this number from her contact details I could see that all the FaceTime calls had gone to this other number, yet the ONLY number that shows up in her FaceTime and iMessage settings where she can be reached at, is her current number. At this point we deducted that her old number was given to someone that now has an iOS device and for some ODD reason (Apple I hope you are paying attention) the FaceTime calls were going to that number, not her current iPhone number.

Now I checked to see if there was any way i could've selected that other number by mistake but I don't see anywhere how to even select her iPhone number as I simply have to select her name and click on the FaceTime icon.

Anyway, now that I removed her old number from her contact information on my device it is working fine. I hope this helps some of you.

Someone else is using your Apple ID, or you are using someone else's and not your own.

That's all there is to it.

Did you get your phone used? Or are you original owner? Is the Apple ID in the Settings for iMessage and Facetime yours?

My phone is always with me, except when i'm taking a shower. 😝 So it's not possible someone else using it.

I am the original owner of my Iphone.

I am the owner of my Apple ID.

Is my theory not relevant ?

my theory : the little boy has got my previous phone number (I have change of operator). And this old phone number is still linked to my Apple ID. Should explain why I have this problem.

Hoping you have a solution ...

well, today facetime on my wife's iphone rang and supposedly it was me. Only that I was with her and my iphone was in our car locked. Also, my iphone needs a pin number to get into so there was no chance of so to speak butt (accidental) dialing.

My only guess is that my phone amongst others are monitored and controlled by someone and there was a software glitch.

Has anybody experienced the same type of event?

My Friend is stating that on two occasions she has face timed my phone and someone else answered. Then they hang up. She is thinking that someone is picking up my phone and playing a game with her. However I am positive that none has my phone in their possession at the time that she has called. This is causing serious mistrust amongst us. Is it possible that someone has cloned my phone or APPLEID and is intercepting her FaceTime calls to me??

Thank you.

I can join this issue. My girlfriend just tried to contact me through facetime and a stranger picked up. All ID's and phone numbers are my own and everything is set up properly since I just had to go through the whole AppleID / Facetime / etc. setup after the Yosemite / iOS8 upgrade.

Highly strange. I suspect that there must be a glitch somewhere, since I am almost certain that no one have access to my accounts. Why would somebody at the other end pick up at all, if they had stolen my identity? And I have not sold or lost any old iPhone or iPad, so old data is not at stake here either.

It is happening the same to me. I've been receiving FaceTime calls from my gf account for a few weeks, but it's not her. A guy with a mask is making the calls, but I am not sure he is american, since I am not able to understand what he says.

At the beginning I thought it was a FaceTime bug because I started receiving calls while I was already talking on FaceTime with my gf, so I didn't care at all and obviously I didn't answer. But last Friday the iPhone rang again and I answered and saw this guy.

We've been to the Apple store and we've called the customer care maybe 10 times and no one is surprised at all. Is it so common and normal that someone uses your Apple ID to call your relatives and/or your partners??

They just answered that you have to change simply your password, but this doesn't solve anything. In fact, the guy called again a few hours ago and the Apple senior manager decided to transfer our call to the network operator.

I'm totally disappointed with the answers from Apple, since the operators aren't able to avoid future calls from the guy and to dissociate his devices from my gf's icloud account!

I would be very grateful if someone could help me to manage this weird situation.

Thank you very much!

Well I guess I should now take a number.

I just tried Face Timing my fiancee only to have another woman who knows him pick up 4 times! I don't know whether to break our engagement and slash his tires or continue to do what I am doing and try to search for another logical explanation.

Apple..........if this is truly a bug FIX IT AND DO SO NOW before the divorce rate increases and havoc in so many relationships ensue unnecessarily! This is NOT COOL AT ALL!

This just happened to me and my wife about six times.

When I call her and she answers it's fine. If she then selects Facetime, an nice old guy called Ernie answers. He is also in Australia. He is on a different phone network to me and his number is completely different. There is no way he is using my apple id. we've tried restarting both phones.

My only thought is that my wife hasn't got the latest phone update yet.

We are beginning to become good friends with Eddie! Nice guy. Might have him over for Christmas.

Add me to the list! calling my wife and someone else, with a funny accent picking it. I can tell by the background it's a completely different house but my wife does tell me that she sees my calling coming in but then it drops. At that point she calls me back and like nothing ever happened. Really weird apple!!!

When my mother (using her ipad) tries to contact me (either using my phone of my macbook) by facetime, she is connected to someone else. This has happened twice already, both times to the same guy. She is highly distressed by this. I can call her with no problems, though. What is going on?
