Mac Pro SATA Performance Fixed under Windows XP

This gentlemen has been kind enough to set up a website on how to fix the SATA issues with the Mac Pro with XP. What is required is to slipstream the required SATA drivers into your XP disk prior to installing. Please follow the instructions on the page. You can ignore all parts except for the part pertaining to slipstreaming the drivers into the XP image.

Any questions feel free to ask. Works perfectly and is a workaround for F6 install method.

re the sound, I uninstalled the intel drivers & any sound related drivers in the software control panel, restarted, went to the device manager and saw a PCI device yellow flagged, did an auto install for that, then the audio device was detected, then reinstalled the bootcamp drivers & restarted.

viola

I think this issue points to variations in the mac pro hardware, compared with the intel drivers we are slipstreaming - maybe you could just use the sata driver and get the rest off the bootcamp installer & slipstream those somehow ?

I am working on a web site to explain the SATA speedup slipstreaming process in EXTREME detail, with over a dozen screen shots. After wasting 6 hours myself, I figured I'd put another couple of hours into building my Mac karma.

It's like driving a car with a manual transmission, easy now - nearly hopeless your first try.

Should be up late tonight 4 Sept 2006 (Labor Day in USA).

Excellent! We, the Mac Pro-slipstreaming-rookies of the world salute you!

I've got mine running well now but I sure wouldn't want to do it again. The thing that makes it such a tedious process is the time it takes to see if the slipstreaming worked or not - I think I made four discs in all. Your efforts will be GREATLY appreciated by many.

(btw - I did finally get my sound working thanks to these and other helpful posts.)
