Cannot install Apple Mobile Device Support

My iphone couldn't connect to the itunes on my PC (Windows 8, 64bit). I tried to reintall intunes several times but the problem couldn't be solved. Later, I found out that AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 did not intall with itunes. I extracted the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 from iTunes64Setup and tried to intall the file alone. But still didn't work. 😟

Here is what it said:

"Apple Mobile Device Support wasn't installed on your computer."

"The installer encountered errors before Apple Mobile Device Support could be configured.

Your system has not been modified. To retry these operations at a later time, please run the installer again."

I also tried the method below. But still didn't work. 😢

i was also dying. i couldn't get anything to work for my IPhone6 for days. till i tried the link you put up this work for me. the first time it did not work as i installed it completely. so i tried it a gain and this time i checked iTunes every time i installed each download. this time it worked. i did not finish the entire installation. by checking after each down load it bugged out the problem by itself. mine ended up being a corrupted driver. hopefully this work for anyone in the same situation.

This sounded hopeful, but it hasn't worked for me. I'm 32-bit, so what I had in System32 was not quite the same. I had usbaapl.sys in Windows\System32\drivers, not usbaapl64.sys, and usbaaplrc.dll was in Windows\System32\ itself, not the drivers folder. But I deleted both anyway.

And then I deleted every trace of Apple software in the usual sequence, rebooted, cleared up the remaining bits, rebooted, created a new (administrator) user, downloaded iTunes again and ran it as an administrator. And AMDS rolled back as usual. I tried to install AMDS on its own with the same result. And then I tried it with the AMDS drivers pasted in from the up-to-date version of iTunes on my daughter's old pc: same result. Yet another wasted afternoon.

The failed installation, incidentally, has not put the drivers back into System32...

If I charged the time I've wasted on this since February at the minimum wage (let alone my consultancy rate!), I could have bought more than one new computer... I'm starting to wish I had. I may yet have to, but it feels like the tail wagging the dog.
