I've bought an Early 2014 MacBook Air but under About this Mac it shows Mid 2013

I bought a new MacBook Air after Apple announced the Early 2014 refresh but when I check under About this Mac it shows Mid 2013.

Is this normal?

Thanks for your help

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

No need for a replacement if your MBA is a newer model. Apple bumped up the speed and reduced the price by $100

Looking at the specs for both the Mid 2012 and Early 2013 MacBook Airs

Both the 2013 and 2014 11" MBA's have the same ID info as shown below, so this may be why the Early 2014 MBA shows as a Mid 2013.

Model Identifier: MacBookAir6,1

Model Number: A1465

Order Number: MD711LL/B (128 GB storage), MD712LL/B (256 GB storage)

The Main difference is the i5 processor in each model. The Mid 2013 has a 1.3GHz i5-4250U Haswell Processor, and the Early 2014 has a 1.4 GHz i5-4260U Haswell Processor.

The i7's use the same 1.7 GHz i5-4650U Haswell Processorin in both the Mid 2013 and the Early 2014 MBA's

You can use the following command in the Terminal to determine which processor you have:

sysctl -n machdep.cpu.brand_string

Hi Skylark,

From your previous post:

"I've just spoken to Apple, apparently they are going to release an update soon that will change the information for new MacBook Airs from Mid 2013 to Early 2014."

its good to know that apple is aware of the situation and problem. I wonder when this update is set to go? Apple has updated mavericks to 10.9.4 recently and I believe that the issue hasnt been fix yet.
