updated itunes 11.2 crashes after opening

Sadly I too updated and iTunes now crashes. Even holding the Option and Command keys seems to have no effect. Maybe it's just really deep and long thught?!

Having waited a few minutes more as iTunes worked things out in the safe mode there are no spinning beach balls or 100% CPU usage and I can actually listen the the podcasts that I hold so dear.

So I will relax and hear the bad news from around the world, even Canada.

I am experiencing a similar issue. Never had an issue with itunes before, and then i download yesterdays itunes update for Mac OSX. I open itunes and it goes right to the spinning beach ball and freezes up. Cant do anything but force quit. This *****! Use itunes everday to refresh and listen to my podcast page.

I also did the update and am having the same problem. Just installed iTunes 11.2.1 update but no fix. Never had a problem with iTunes before the 11.2 update.

The solution is in another itunes forum. Delete the syncservices folder from application support folder in the users library folder. Worked immediately for me.

Deleting the sync services folder wasn't enough for me and the crashing continued. What I did was go the iTunes Podcast Page, hit "Settings" at the bottom, and set "Check for new episodes" to "manually", and "download episodes" to "off".

For good measure I also turned off "Genius".

Now that I've done all that, it's stopped crashing upon startup.

Scott, that's a fair question! I incrementally made those adjustments over about 8 or 10 attempts as iTunes would crash not long after starting up.

When I would turn on iTunes, I could see on the "home page screen" that is was updating Genius and somehow I also noticed it was syncing or downloading Podcasts. I had already deleted the Sync Services Folder and emptied the trash, yet it kept crashing. I also would try and "x" out the Genius progress bar to stop it, but not long after it would crash. So on another attempt, I started trying to "turn off" Genius via to the Store pull down menu . It would appear to turn off, but by then iTunes would crash. And when I restarted iTunes I would see Genius try to update or sync all over again, whatever it does, and I would check the Store pull down menu and Genius was still on.

The next thing I tried was after turning Genius off, I shut down iTunes, hoping to "Save" the setting as off. I think that was how I succeeded in shutting off Genius.

In a mix of adjustments I also turned off what I could with the Podcasts.

It's been six hours now with no crashes, and I played a big high def movie file via ethernet out of my Mac Pro to Apple TV, so my iTunes 11.2.1 is basically in good shape.

Here's some more clues: If I unplug from the internet and don't have a device attached (iphone) then iTunes launches. But, what the heck, what can you really do without the internet. If I do either of the following - plug in my iPhone or reattach my ethernet cable, then it freezes. Hope Apple is listening.

Can someone give me a step-by-step on how to delete the the sync services content? My issues is based around my devices too.... as soon as I plug on in and iTunes senses it, iTunes is toast.

Having a similar issue. Downloaded new itunes. Now crashes every time I try to open. Gets stuck on downloading artwork. HELP!!!!!

Same issues, crashing. Gets more like MSFT everyday.

To reset sync services http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1627. Now the sync services most likely will not resolve the issue. It has not happened to me but has anyone tried moving or deleting the itunes library file (located /Users/[account name]/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library.itl)?
