Macbook Pro running slow getting the rainbow wheel

I'm running version 10.7.5 about a month ago my computer started running slow so I decided to put a lot of the music/movies I had on this hard drive onto a remote drive. I figured that's why it was running slow. Well that didn't do anything. It actually got worse after I removed all that stuff. I have 435.94 GB available of a 500 GB HDD. I keep getting the rainbow wheel when I have a few windows open (I use safari). After I had gotten this drive almost completely free. I was having audio issues. Watching videos on youtube and the audio wasn't keeping up w/ the video. It would for a certain point but then I'd hear it repeat a short section of audio and then be off from there. Same thing when I have spotify open and I'm listening to music on there. If I'm on a webpage I get the spinning wheel and the audio skips. It doesn't seem to matter what I do I'm always getting the spinning wheel for some reason or another. I've done the verify permissions etc but that didn't work. I've dumped the cache in safari and that made the spinning wheel come on when I tried to open safari again. I use mackeeper on here and I thought that may have been the culprit but I've had it for a while before it started doing all this. I've had this computer for close to 3yrs now. It was a refurb from Apple. I'm not sure if that has anything to do w/ it. I have 4 GB of RAM. I've checked to see if anything is eating up the resources and that's not an issue. Just have no idea why it's running crappy. Unless my HDD is about to fail. Anyone know what the issue may be? I thought I'd never have issues like this w/ a Mac. I HATED Windows based PC's because of the freezing, shutting down, errors etc. I'd get all the time and fell in love w/ this computer once I got used to it. I'm not a pro but I can do things w/ instructions.

ibleedblackngold,

I don’t know — how many updates for Lion has Apple released in the last two months? (I’ve never run Lion, so I can’t speak from personal experience.) My wife has an older model MacBook Pro than yours with Mountain Lion installed, and she has no problems with audio skipping, so I’m going on the presumption that some third-party app is responsible for your current audio situation.

Well, I deleted Kies and the audio is still the same. Not sure what the deal is but as I said. It just started doing all of this out of the blue about a month or two ago. I haven't downloaded anything new. I will admit getting rid of MacKeeper really helped. I thought that, that program was causing the slow running of my Mac (Like Norton on a Windows based PC). The audio skipping and being out of sequence is driving me mad!

ibleedblackngold,

now that you’ve uninstalled Kies, I’ve noticed that ClamXav is being loaded — it wasn’t being loaded before. Try uninstalling that next. If that makes no difference, try uninstalling Boom and the Jawbone app, one at a time, to see if either of those could be playing a rôle. Do you know what the “fuspredownloader” software does?

Jun 2, 2014 10:56 PM in response to Melophage

I just read it's part of the Kies app. ***?! The thing I hate about Mac is the fact that there's no uninstaller to just get rid of everything. I thought I had gotten rid of ClamXav. It's not listed in my applications anymore. All of these are OLD that I've had on here forever. Probably since I bought the pc. Aside from the Jawabone app. What's the BEST way to get rid of all these apps? That way I can get rid of them completely. I'm not a computer whiz but I'm not a dummy either. I just don't want to be searching deep into my pc to delete things. If I have to. I will though.

Jun 2, 2014 11:10 PM in response to ibleedblackngold

ibleedblackngold,

the lack of an effective Kies uninstaller is due to the choices of the Kies developer. Mac apps are supposed to be uninstallable by dragging the app to the Trash, then Emptying Trash. If an app makes system-level changes, then it should be provided with a complete uninstaller, to clean up all changes which it has made — or at minimum, documentation should be provided on how to do a manual uninstallation by using Terminal commands.

Unfortunately, the best way to uninstall a stubbornly clinging app is to research into how others have resolved the same situation, and to make notes if you have to blaze a trail yourself to do such an uninstallation (and ideally post those notes publicly, so that others won’t have to go through the same process). There are a number of generic uninstaller apps out there, but from what I’ve read about them, they do more harm than good, so I’d advise staying clear of them.
