Hello ,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot your issue of not being able to MMS, please follow the troubleshooting below:
To resolve issues with sending and receiving MMS, follow these steps
- Go to Settings and turn airplane mode off.
- Go to Settings > Messages and turn MMS Messaging on.
- Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Cellular Data on.
- Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Data Roaming on if you're roaming on a cellular provider network that is different from your billing provider's network.
- Make sure that you have a cellular data connection in the status bar of your iPhone.
- Go to Settings and turn Wi-Fi off. Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify that you have a data connection. Turn Wi-Fi back on to continue using Wi-Fi for other features. If your cellular data connection isn't available, follow these steps.
- Make sure that you can send and receive SMS. If you can't send and receive SMS, see the "Issues with sending and receiving SMS" section, above. MMS might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports.
- Restart your iPhone.
- Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
- Remove your SIM card and insert it again.
If you still can't send or receive MMS, follow these steps
- Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
- Go to Settings > Messages and turn on group messaging if you're sending a group message.
- Make sure that you're using the area code with the contact's phone number. When you send messages internationally, you also need the contact's international code.
- If you're using a "Pay as you go" MMS plan, make sure it has enough available balance. If you're unsure of your MMS plan or available balance, contact your carrier.
- If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
- If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact from the Contacts app. Send a new message to the new contact.
- Back up and restore your iPhone as new.
- If your carrier has recently ported your phone number, the porting process might not be complete. Contact your carrier to confirm that the porting process is complete.
- Contact your carrier to verify that you're provisioned to send SMS and are in an area with cellular coverage.
- Contact your carrier to verify that there aren't blocks or filters on your wireless account preventing you from sending SMS.
- Your carrier might require modified APN settings to use MMS.

please help! I hate the new iOS 11!!!!
SMS & MMS are both carrier functions. Your device can only send to Android via a carrier provided function.

Thanks. Just tried that, turning off iMessage.
Still does not let me send or receive photo Cyrus with non-Iphone users. :-(
Its like Apple does not care about this community feature
Dude none of this helps, everyone I know has this issue.
I tried loeterally ALL the steps in the thread & nothing worked. Never had this issue until the most recent update

What did your carrier tell you?
UnBelievable! it worked for me , too!!
i turned MMS OFF (to grey) and then I tried sending a picture ...sent!
😕
Thanks for the “odd” helpful tip 🙂
This just worked for me: Go to Settings --> Messages and make sure that BOTH "Send as SMS" and "MMS Messaging" are turned on.

Why you think we are stupid? I phone have a problem and don't want to address it. And calling US stupid is the best thing that they can do; shame on you all this doesn't make us want apple more or going to make us tell our friends buy iPhone so I can send you picks and videos.
Please point out where I said anyone was stupid. In order to determine whether the problem is with the phone itself, one must do troubleshooting. And, no, most iPhones don't have a problem sending pictures to Android users.
I don't think your stupid; I think you're rude.
Make sure that you have contacted your carrier to be sure you have MMS enabled on your device. Go to Settings>Messages and make sure that MMS messaging is enabled. Make sure you have an active cellular data connection.

"Send as SMS" has nothing to do with sending messages to Android users. That setting is only relevant to iMessage recipients. It tells the phone to resend an iMessage as SMS if it fails to go as an iMessage.
All I can tell you is that MMS Messaging was already on, and I wasn't able to send photos to my sister's android phone. I had tried 3 times. As soon as I turned on Send as SMS, the photos went through.
That would either indicate that your sister had switched from an iPhone to an Android phone and hadn't deregistered her phone or that it was a coincidence that it started working at the same time. I've done the test repeatedly, every time someone says this is the case. I've had no problem sending an MMS to an Android phone (with a number that was never activated on an iPhone) with that setting disabled.
Hello. I have had this problem for years. I read all the way through this thread and did everything very carefully. Tested every step nothing worked. Then called Verizon and they said YES MMS was blocked! She unblocked and had me send a picture to an android phone and sure enough they got it. Then I sent a message into a mixed android iPhone group text I had been knocked out of. They all got my text! yay! It is a thing. So happy to solve this.
I tried everything in the walk through with no luck. I can't send any videos to my android family. They can send me photos and such but I can't send any videos to them. please help! I hate the new iOS 11!!!!
