Finally I have found a solution for the Internet problem on my iPhone. If you have slow internet using iOS 8 this might be your solution.

After 2 recovery sessions with two different downloads of iOS 8 my iphone 5 was still killing my broadband on other devices and itself. I have a slow broadband where I live anyway so my problem might impact people with faster broadband less but still result in slower internet for them. For people finding that their broadband is a lot slower on iOS 8 the answer in my case and I suspect many others is the power charging lead and can be remedied in Settings.

Data transferring from your Idevice to iCloud in the background might be slowing your Internet to a crawl

If you select iCloud in settings you might be stunned to find a whole bunch of items that communicate with iCloud. There is even automated backup to iCloud that backs up your device when it is plugged into the charging power lead. It says it does this when the iphone is locked but I have my doubts.

I have left the minimal settings for iCloud and turned the Backup off and it has completely cured my broadband problem. Unknown to me my iPhone must have been transferring data to iCloud and hogging my internet. The moment I turned as many items off as was necessary and ran my broadband speed checker App the ping went from a ridiculous 700ms to 17ms and my broadband speed return to normal. Now I can plug the lead in and out and there is no problem anymore.

Obviously don't turn off all the iCloud transfers. I kept for example email and find my iphone. Check what each one is for and if you don't need it disable it. I hope this helps people as I know this has been a headache for many Idevice users and iOS 8.

Not only am I facing internet connection failure on both iPad Air and iPhone 5 after upgrading to iOS8, but since then operating system constantly asking me for password to iCloud, Apple ID. I can log in on one unit and when I attempt to log in the other I get error message advising my password is incorrect. Since upgrading I have had to log in to Apple ID every single day, on multiple occasions.

My internet connection fails when moving between AP set up, or if changing from one WiFi provider point to another - EG, going from home, then connecting to another source (router). The only way I seem to be able to resolve is:

  • Turn WiFi off
  • Soft reboot
  • Clear open apps

If that doesn't work, hard reboot, reopen Wifi, reselect wifi source, and wait and see if the internet connects; I am monitoring DHCP settings and when all IP addresses are active then it works, until I stop using the app that is using the internet - say YouTube, then the connection hangs again.

I have already changed DHCP settings multiple times and "forgotten this network". I upgraded because I am beta testing my Macbook pro on Yosemite so as to activate iCloud on all. but now have turned off almost all iCloud access programs!!

Both phone and pad were working ok on iOS 7 prior to the upgrade.

Frustrated!! I have an iPhone 6plus on order and due to arrive early October, now regretting! Perhaps time to change to another product!

I have the same issue. I replaced my modem and am replacing my router because they were both kind of old anyway. The connections to my computers are much faster but not with the IOS 8 iphone 6. I have found that changing the DNS server can help. Try using an outside DNS instead of relying on your router for that. I have tried a few different ones and when one DNS seems slow I try another. Seems to help some. Might be your best option until the bug is (hopefully) fixed with an update.
